If you've never been it's definitely worth trying once. I personally wouldn't myself, having had it before, because I have tons of good pizza options in Jersey. It's just a solid fast-casual spot with surprisingly good food but it's not going to blow your mind or anything.
To be fair, it's 20 minutes from my job, in the opposite direction of my home. So I'd have to go after work or something, or just take a long lunch break. I'll probably check it out once it's covered on the podcast, because how can I not.
This thread is making me want to try it (maybe because it's lunch time) but the closest Blaze to me is an hour and a half away. No wonder I haven't heard of it. Odd that it's not in this market yet (37th largest metro) To compare, it's a 4-10 minute drive from my house to every other chain in the tournament. A few have multiple locations within that distance. Curious to hear what they say about it.
Blaze is fine. I’ve only eaten it when it’s in a mall or shopping district I’m in, I don’t think I’d drive more than five or ten minutes out of my way for it though.
I mean, it looks good, but I'm fairly certain that there are a dozen better pizza places between here and Blaze. I'll still probably go.
One opened up by my college right before graduation, but it was so packed for the first month that we just said fuck it and ordered Domino's sounds good/cool but it's rare that I have regrets about ordering Domino's, haha. Or Pizza Hut, for that matter.
Are they chains or local shops? As far as chains, this is definitely top tier. But I don't think anything compares to a mom and pop shop.
Yeah, I guess that's the difference. There are lots of local shops in town that make great pizza so I don't ever really see the need for chain pizza unless I'm on a budget. Blaze looks legit, and I'll probably go try it, but if I'm gonna pay $8-10 at Blaze for a personal pizza, I'd probably just rather pay $5 more and get a bigger pizza from a mom and pop place or pay a couple bucks less and get a bigger pizza from Domino's that's at the end of my block.
it's just different. i know that's the least helpful thing ever, but it's pizza that makes me feel like not a total fat fuck when i'm done. very fresh and very good
It doesn’t, but if I’m being honest I actually like Sbarro more than pretty much all the delivery chains, not gonna lie. I’d probably go with it over Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and Litte Caesar’s.
Spoiler for the winner: For a minute there I thought Sbarro was gonna pull the upset off haha. I'm thinking it's going to go far in Fat Chance Kitchen, though. Wouldn't be surprised if Sbarro won the losers bracket, considering how positive they reacted to it.
i'm glad Nick slammed Mitch's general "meh" stance on Blaze, this is the same man that advocates Dunkin's fully frozen breakfast sandwiches, sometimes I just have to shake my head haha
To be fair, it could be because I grew up with them but I also enjoy Dunkin's frozen breakfast sandwiches haha But Blaze is better than Sbarro, even though I kind of agree that it gets more hate than it deserves as far as pizza chains go.
It definitely feels like Mitch is going full contrarian, ranking Blaze ahead but giving Sbarro the win, definitely trying to add chaos and fuck things up. He'll probably vote against Blaze every round But I am intrigued because they still don't have a favorite Also, father do you have the feathers I requested
