Well, it's all personal preference really. Like I said, I don't care about Star Wars so I'm not into "Star Wars month" but if they did "Simpsons month" I'd be all about it, but they'd probably alienate a different portion of their audience.
idc at all about Doughboys doing a month on Star Wars i am just over two straight months of running into discussions as to why it is actually bad in every corner of the internet lol, i've never seen anything quite like it
I get where you're coming from, but that's the internet. People are gonna talk shit about whatever it is. The film made over $1billion, and I'm sure the next one will too, so obviously someone liked it.
I'm with you on this one for sure. This trend of saying "x is bad" instead of "I did not/do not enjoy x" is one of the most frustrating trends on the internet. Just because one does not like something does not mean it is "bad." And it's not just Star Wars, it's literally everything.
I mean, I'm not surprised by it, if that's what you're implying. But that doesn't mean I can't criticize it. That's like telling someone "Welcome to Washington" when they criticize Congress for doing something horrible haha. Like, yeah it's expected but it still sucks and should be changed.
Yeah I know, but I'm not just going to roll over and except it, is what I mean. Mostly because it really annoys the hell out of me, to be completely honest.
Tbf, simply saying "The Last Jedi" is bad is much better than the MRA dickheads calling it bad because women and POC were featured. Sometimes, you don't want to hear the reasoning
It's not about the reasoning, it's about the framing. People making grand sweeping statements that something is objectively bad, just because they personally didn't like it (for whatever reason) is what I'm talking about. And like I said, I don't just mean about Star Wars, I mean about literally everything.
This website has had this conversation before. Why is saying “this is bad” better than “I think this is bad”? When I say something is bad or good, I’m expressing my opinion. No one has to agree with it and they’re free to argue it or express a countering view. There’s no reason to take it personally when someone says something I like is bad, or vice verse.
It's very easy to ignore those statements, though. I don't get worked up over any of them because they're meaningless unless backed up with reasoning. My life is not personally affected by someone saying that a work of art is "bad". I can't even muster up strong emotions to respond because of how boring the statement is.
Yeah I'm just going to stop right here because I'm not wading into these waters again. Sorry for bringing it up, just ignore what I said.
I've never had a bad experience at Halal Guys, have to say. Been to both a cart in NYC and to storefronts in Jersey and they've all been good. One opened up in Newark while I was working there last year, which was awesome, but now I don't work in that area anymore and don't live/work especially close to one, which sucks. Great lunch spot, in my opinion, and their hot sauce is actually legitimately hot.
I might try Halal Guys for lunch. I've never been there, but they opened one near my job recently. It's always packed though.
Yeah lunch rushes there can be brutal. They have a phone app, maybe try ordering ahead and picking it up? Also you can earn points for free food through it.
Be sure to get that BBQ sauce and DO NOT have them put the hot sauce on your plate, but get a packet of it. It will ruin your meal, but is good to put a tiny bit.
That's a good way to do it, although still too much for me. I don't think they are very forthcoming with how spicy it is. I've seen them slather it on as much as the white sauce with people who have never been there before, and I'm like if you're not a mega heatseeker that's going to be a bad time.
That's crazy because at almost all of the ones I've been too, they ask if I want hot sauce, and then when I say I want more than just the one strip they usually give their eyes go wide and they basically try to persuade me against doing what I'm about to do haha. But yeah, it is undeniably hot, the warning should always be given.
I haven't been there in a while, so I didn't even know they had barbecue sauce. Is it like a traditional barbecue sauce?
