I'm like a month or two behind so I haven't followed any of these, but them doing a commentary for TFA sounds great Except Mitch's opinion on these movies is bad
This is true lmao but only like three-quarters of the way into the film for a few seconds max, idk, I think it's worth trying. Ler us know if you try it/how it goes @suicidesaints
I'll let you all know. I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to actually do it, since I still need to find a copy of Force Awakens (shouldn't be too hard though)
Excited for this, love Halal Guys. I don't think there are too many though, I'm sure most listeners are unfamiliar.
The problem is most, if not all, of Mitch's criticisms can be made against all the other Star Wars movies but he chooses to only see them in these new ones.
Some crucial ones are unique to TFA. Having it both ways with the Rebels having won in RotJ, but still being the “Resistance” in TFA, Finn’s personality being fully formed and charming and comedic when being raised a Stormtrooper, lack of defining characteristics in Snoke/Phasma/Hux, Starkiller Base as a whole, the Rathtar scene being devoid of any advancing of theme or character, the map to Luke being a weak McGuffin (that one doesn’t bother me but I recognize it), humor that undercuts serious moments of gravity, the whole mystery box scene with Rey not actually doing anything, the Force Awakens has plenty of flaws. Because it isn’t a good movie.
The last thing I want to do is contribute to another Star Wars debate here, especially in this thread, but I think you can plug in names and things from the originals and prequels to many of the things you named and there are a lot of flaws unique to those movies. Plus Mitch has expressed a lot of other bad and just wrong opinions about both the new ones and just comes off poorly when he discusses them.
The smartest man I know... NOT Mitchy 2 spoons I hope you lift away to space, you bitch When the boys come a knockin'...
i really wish people would stop feeling the need to label things beloved my millions of people objectively bad, it plagues the rest of the forum so let's keep it outta here please
I don't think anyone in here said it was objectively bad. It's a discussion forum. People were just discussing their opinion on the film. Sorry if you have a differing opinion. Besides Doughboys is a podcast about chain restaurants, not Star Wars. If they want to talk about Star Wars, fine, but don't expect everyone to be excited about it.
I don't give a shit about Star Wars. I didn't see the new film, I don't care about The Force Awakens. I find the jokes they make about it pretty funny but do get annoyed with it coming up in almost every episode. To do a Star Wars month was a bit of a misstep in my opinion, it alienates a huge portion of the fanbase who simply doesn't care. Completely skipped the commentary.
