Yeah but the ones “in charge” are not oblivious. Industry knew about man made climate change and generally what it would do kept if we didn’t rapidly reduce emissions many decades ago. The politicians have known about this too. It’s not that they’re idiots, they’re corrupt. There is a ton of wealth and power involved in the world’s reliance on fossil fuels. This movie is just a terrible satire of climate change and what needs to be done and most of all who is responsible.
Practically my entire extended family is obsessed with Yellowstone, a show I only know about from them telling me about it
The new Sandra Bullock movie is like the definition of ok. Something that felt like it was made for tv. Nothing memorable or good but millions of things that are worse. there are a few hilariously misplaced scenes that definitely were accidentally left in after other scenes were cut or moved around in order. One so bad that even my step dad who can’t remember or follow anything noticed. Edit: I’ve sat here for like 10 minutes and I can’t come close to thinking of the title and I watched this like 2 weeks ago so that should sum it up lol
Seems pretty in line with Taylor Sheridan, a guy that seems to lean left with “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River”) and right (“Sicario” and seemingly this)
i wouldn’t say sheridan appears to be strictly speaking a republican or that the show appeals to them at all but i’m also not willing to die on that hill
People with bad politics can make good art and people with good politics can make bad art. It happens
“Sicario: Day of The Soldado” (a movie that basically doesn’t exist) is much worse. It starts with a Mexican terrorist bombing a grocery store and just goes from there. And by no mean am I saying people with bad politics can’t make good art. I love some of Sheridan’s stuff. I just am baffled by whatever politics he has because it seems all over the place.
Comparing art to political ideology is hard. Right-wing politics is so much about obeying authority and carrying on tradition that it stands in stark contrast to art's goal to challenge and question. At the very least, it is much harder to be funny on the right.
Wow yeah this was really awful, I had low expectations but god this dragged on so long. So many scenes felt like the characters just retreading the exact same stuff that they talked about in the prior scene. Halfway through I was just looking forward to the spectacle of the comet hitting lol
Arts goal is not limited to challenging and questioning, art has the power to encapsulate and express the entire human spectrum of experiences and emotions. Honest, powerful, and interesting displays will always overcome its creator's politics.
I fully for a second thought they meant that Billy Ray Cyrus was going to be in the movie He could probably play one of the stormers
This had its moments, but it was borderline painful to get finish. It should have been an hour shorter. The messaging was far too heavy-handed to be impactful.
