for me it's that I can't tell if it's making fun of Brennan and Dale or not, whereas Ricky Bobby Ron Burgundy and Terry are all making fun of toxic masculinity rather than these guys are a little weird
Honestly can’t stand Talladega Nights and The Other Guys is completely forgettable. Literally forgot all about that movie.
Always thought The Other Guys was a step-down from the other three Ferrell/McKay flicks (although still very funny at the time) but it's hard for me to sit down and watch those movies after hearing them quoted ad nauseam in high school and college Talladega Nights is up there with Anchorman and Step Brothers though. Was probably my favorite growing up.
Don't particularly care one way or another about Adam McKay but I loved The Big Short, stylistically and thematically
It's funny because as minor as it was, that felt like Michael Keaton's comeback role, and a few years later he was back for good
I know I've said it before, but the "Aim for the Bushes" scene in "The Other Guys" is probably the hardest I've ever laughed during a movie.
You’re thinking too hard about it. It’s absolutely making fun of Brennan and Dale haha. It’s just amazing slapstick stuff.
The other guys is easily the best of those four but I never found step brothers all that great and anchorman and talledega nights, while hilarious when I was a child, have been worn into the ground by popular culture and are more tedious now than anything
Anchorman is still a classic of that era's humour and it holds up well today, I will not hear the slander
I'll never forget the two hour long silence I experienced showing my friends "Anchorman" for the first time, partially because it was the uncut version, which was the only one you could find at the time.
Yeah improv isn’t the easiest, I wouldn’t assume a Nickelodeon star of a terribly scripted tv show would be good at it either haha
