There were theater pops for me at the mention of the Illuminati, every single character reveal, etc. Basically deep comic book stuff.

For me, Raimi's camera work was what was cheer worthy

That scene where Wanda is chasing them down those tunnels with not-blood splattered all over her face looking almost like a deadite was so fucking good. RAIMI!

House of M was. The Decimation definitively wasn’t.

John Byrne’s West Coast Avengers, followed by Disassembled, followed by the Decimation, followed by the bad characterization in Remender’s Uncanny Avengers… was rough for Wanda, lol.

I'm not seeing this until Tuesday for reasons, so I'm going to be absent from this thread for a while.

Although I'm not sure there's anything left to spoil for me, so... (shrugs)

Forgot to mention before but the end with Zombie Strange having a touching sincere genuine moment with America while a chunk of his face is missing was brilliant.

Really really enjoyed this and very happy that Raimi went all out with it. Really pushed the PG13 rating.

Marvel really needs to drop the forced quips though. If they’re trying to allow the directors to really put their own stamp on the franchise, having some more malleability to the way the scripts are structured is going to go a long way. We’ll probably get that in the second half of this phase imo

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

loved the whole second act but Zombie Strange reveal was when I audibly exhaled and thought 'oh raimi is BACK back'

  10. Had a lot of fun with this. It's so nice to watch a MCU movie and feel like there's a real director behind the camera making decisions and stylistic choices. Love all the Evil Dead vibes. Musical note fight was a highlight.

My complaints would be that I didn't feel like we got enough of the real Wanda, a character I love, assuming what we're watching for most of this is a Wanda fully taken over by the darkhold. All that said, it was great watching her wreck shit throughout. I was hoping to learn more about America Chavez, but she's essentially just there as a plot device.

I had no idea Charlize Theron was cast in the MCU, so that was an awesome reveal.

big pic pod brought up a decent point, with how weird krasinski's performance is (the eye line being off/feeling like they weren't in the same room as some of the other actors) where it almost feels like they cast him as a result of the discourse about him possibly appearing in wandavision. and now they can have it both ways where if people love it, he's cast in FF4, and if they don't, oh it's just the multiverse we can go with william jackson harper or whoever for FF4. it's weird.

Krasinski was almost certainly added during extensive reshoots that were rumored to mostly be for adding cameos. Assuming his schedule didn't work out for the initial shoot, or he just hadn't finalized a deal.

I would not be surprised if he was added later or at least separately from the rest of the cast. I feel like all the main shots of him were of just him in the throne room or whatever. And even when they go to Wanda he stands further out from the rest of the group. I don’t think he even has a chance to touch Wanda before he becomes spaghetti.

The thing that got me most excited was the name drop of incursions and with it confirmation that Secret Wars is coming.

Just saw this. I liked America Chavez alot, along with Strange. I still don’t like Wanda as much as I did pre-WandaVision. The horror elements were a nice touch, but idk something about this movie just felt off. I liked the visuals from Raimi, but story wise I was just like eh. The pacing was a bit too fast as well. 7/10

I don't mean this to sound like your opinion is wrong or anything but...7/10 is still really good!

It is good, I expected to like it more than I did though

I'd probably give it a 7 too. It's more than interesting enough visually and set-piece wise to warrant watching, but the story just didn't grab me. I really think this was one of the worst routes to take Wanda down and centering so much of Strange's emotional arc around Christine didn't work super well for me considering I barely even remembered who that was. I'm actually a lot more interested in what Derrickson wanted to do now since apparently the split wasn't because of horror or gore or anything like that

Derrickson stated before that he wanted to do a character study with both Strange and Mordo, with Mordo slowly falling down his path of villainy while Strange tries to save him.

He also mentioned wanting to do Nightmare.

That reminds me, at one point Strange says that his Mordo has tried to kill his multiple times. Wonder when that happened. Pre or post snap?

See I'm way more interested in that story than Wanda going on a warpath to kidnap some kids and kill (enslave? possess?) their mom

Just found out Xochitl Gomez just turned 18 exactly a week ago. Making her 16-17 for this movie. I guess she really was a kid. I thought she was maybe early 20’s.

Early reports said her chemistry with Cumberbatch wasn’t there, but I thought they were fine.
