Closer north than @ComedownMachine but still pretty far from the fire at the moment. It’s at the northern tip of the county, so it would have to grow a lot or embers would have to carry really far for it to threaten either of us

Dude that’s fucked. When adults blame their (step-)kids for not being able to “live their dreams” I roll my eyes so hard.

My dad basically said that about me and my sisters at one point and I flipped out. That’s part of why I live with my fiancée’s parents while she’s in LA instead of at his house, he’s hard to be around sometimes.

If you ever need to get out of there and I’m in SD let me know!

It was okay. Not a bad album but the writing felt cliche at points and some of the music blended together as I kept listening. With that said though it’s something I would consider returning to!

Its the singer of Norma Jean, ex-drummer of ETID Ryan Leger and Chris LeMasters of Dead and Divine. I agree its nothing groundbreaking but its a solid listen and I enjoy it.

Cool so did I and my kids do too!

they keep asking me for the "feeling" song. I thought it was going to be some dumb Sesame Street song, then my son said no "shopping is a feeling" and it made me feel so good and sad at the same time.

I told them that it's a metaphor, but I don't think they understood that.

wheres the list of albums you've listened to?

hey @circasurviver do you watch the show Baskets? it's set in bakersfield and was wondering how accurate it was.

Here it is! Anything in brackets is something I’m planning on listening to. https://forum.chorus.fm/posts/1380837

Also that’s amazing your kids love it! That’s one of the things I’m looking forward to whenever I have kids, sharing music and art with them

I’m at 105 new albums right now and I have like 11 I’m still going to check out. Initially my goal was just 100. Honestly this is pretty exhausting haha

It really is! I’m trying not to skip any songs either, which for some albums has been really hard

For sure. Some albums I just straight up had to quit like halfway though, though

Try it next year! It’s fun

Hail the Sun EP @Colin Your Enthusiasm recommended was pretty pretty pretty good. I know it's not a full album though.

I seriously don't know how you guys do it. Like I've seen people's list with like 300+ albums, that's like an album per day almost, how do you even listen to the stuff you enjoy if all your time is spent listening to new albums?

next year I might set a goal to listen to like 20 new albums or something, instead of the 5 I got through this year.

With 100, it’s kinda like just 2 new albums a week which is pretty doable. Honestly out of these 100, I only really return to like 40 on a frequent basis. Some of those 100 I only played once. I have plenty of time to enjoy albums that I already love!

Thank you for the reminder! I do need to check that out.

It’s really a challenge, but it’s honestly fun. Not every album gets the attention they might deserve (and some maybe a little more than they deserve) but it’s a great exercise in understanding all the different kinds of music being put out into the world. Also it’s a good way to find new favorites, like I might not have listened to Phoebe Bridgers, Alex Lahey, Mount Eerie, Vagabon, or other bands who put out some of my favorite records this year without sort of forcing myself to explore

Yeah I think 100 is doable. I was more talking about the 1 album per day lists. It's just alot for me. Maybe I'll 1 album per week. That might be a good goal.

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

1 a week it definitely doable! Honestly there’s some days I’ve listened to four or five albums (like today: Big Thief, Dude York, Circle, Waxahatchee, Hundred Suns), usually on long drives or at my desk at work. My goal for next year is 200, which should be much attainable since I won’t be playing catch-up for like 4 months
