I saw them back in August and enjoyed every second of it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I need to listen to Coldplay's early material. Not a fan of their recent output, but they're a band I respect (and Chris brought Michael Stipe out of retirement for the 12/12/12 show thank u Chris)

 

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Their decline is undeniable. Do I think the hate for them is deserved? Yes and no. If they didn't have such a strong start then the hate wouldn't be nearly as vocal and they would just be seen as, like you said, an inoffensive and bland radio rock band. But tracks like We Never Change and A Rush of Blood to the Head, which is truly them at their best, are actually brilliant and it's sad to go from tracks like that to Paradise. I'm all for bands progressing and changing their sound, but they 100% regressed. It just feels soulless.

Me too. And then when I left my last job my boss bought it for me not knowing I already owned it. I felt bad rejecting it, but I didn't want him wasting money on me. At least it means my brand is strong.

 

I think Muse was the first band that taught me the valuable lesson that music written by clearly talented people is not inherently good

 

Back to Coldplay but I have a great memory of driving from Ohio to West Virginia in like 2005 and listening to Parachutes a lot. I have another one from a couple years back of driving home with my brother from my dad's funeral and listening to Parachutes front to back and geeking out.

 

I saw Muse over the summer, arguably one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen.

 

I honestly love Coldplay, they have a whole discography of great tracks.

Kind of reminds me of Fizzy Dino Pop, which is totally my jam. Unfortunately they don’t exist anymore but if you like that, you might enjoy them.

 

I’m sad I can’t find the video of Gorillaz’s Hallelujah Money on YouTube, that video was really powerful and it resonates now.

 

@Bloodsucker II I was on my phone next to my girlfriend and got the notification you followed me on Apple Music, and even though you’ve met us, we referred to you as “bloodsucker”
