when I go back home to elpaso and my mom makes tacos I will post a picture to incite jealousy across this thread and the internet.

border mexican food is the best mexican food.

 

this way is good, also I like to steam the corn tortillas a little bit sometimes too.

mission sucks, there are some decent packaged ones on the shelf here that are pretty good. I like them thin but the mission are way too thick.

 

These are the best tortillas I've ever had that are not homemade tortillas. Made fresh multiple times a day not too far from my house so I can get them still warm at the local grocery store:

 

And too dry! It's fine if the tortillas fall apart while eating the tacos, but they're supposed to tear not crumble.

 

I did! I only gave one spin, need to spend some more time with it.

 

those look good, HEB makes some fresh that I've had before and they are really good. their flour tortillas are really good too.

the mission tortillas just seem like they took cornmeal added water and smashed it together. there's no way that stays together for tacos or anything. really the only thing they are OK for are enchiladas or migas maybe. wouldn't use them for anything else unless I had to.

 

I am saving my turkey sandwich for tomorrow and getting tacos for lunch.

 

haha I just thought the same thing. there's a decent place across the street from my office I'll walk to.

Totally agree on the Mission brand. And the ones I posted are great, but only if they're fresh. By the next day they're not very good.

Yes. The best Mexican food I have ever eaten was at dive bar in Denton, TX 2 years ago. There was a spicy mango/cilantro drizzle lightly poured over this shredded pork quesadilla that we still dream about today.

My brother sent me a picture of a menu from a Mexican restaurant he was at in Nashville called Bakersfield. He said he told the waitress his brother lives there and she brought him a free shot of tequila. Very odd

 

yeah, that's still a ways from the border, but the closer you get to it the better the food(generally speaking of course) it will be.

Are you talking about the town square? If you're standing facing the front stairs of the church in the middle of the block, there's a diner on the left hand side street with some killer (literally it's like a 1200 calorie breakfast) french toast.

 

I am fucking pissed off. For my art history class, I have been under the impression that my final is this Friday (because that’s what she has said all semester). I just checked my student email which I never check, and apparently 2 days ago it was moved to fucking YESTERDAY
