my band teacher ended up becoming one of my best friends and we still talk to this day. we would always jam together after school. I think I have a video somewhere on youtube of us covering Thrice.

He did kick me out of jazz band because I was a class clown with one of my best buddies. no hard feelings though, I would have kicked me out too

See, my teacher was just a straight up ass, even if i was a clown.

That sounds super cool though. I secretly can’t wait to have kids so i can indoctrinate them in the ways of good music.

Good to know you do both mixing and mastering. I really want to do a solo project outside of my band at some point so good to know people that do it. I have like a ton of material it’s just finding the time to actually record it.

chorus.fm is literally where my freelance career is taking off and its sick as hell i love having talented friends, so many people letting me work on their shit and so many more who plan on letting me once they get to that stage. love my chorus family for having faith in me, i worked hard as shit to get here and so many people really believe in me. all that time making dumb beats so i could practice mixing and mastering paid off, my shits sounding fresh these days

I will probably be asking you about this once I'm settled in up in LA. I tried recording on my phone like used to back in the day and my bedroom up there is actually pretty quiet, so it would just be a matter of getting a good setup. Right now though I'm more worried about just getting a job up there lol

for fucks sake at 8 am this song wasnt even a project. hammered it out and its my favorite thing ive done fucking ever.

also shout out my fucking amazing girlfriend for finally blessing me with her voice, which i altered a bit, and giving me a legit producer tag.

I’m honestly at the point where some of my solo songs i just wanna record on my iPhone and have that be part of its charm but i don’t know maybe it’ll just be shitty instead of charming haha

ahhh phone recording. tried it once. wanted to die. the apogee interface for guitar that works on phones and ipads is cool tho. i just need a computer. a big one.

dont do it. trust me. get an audio interface for under 100 bucks. get an sm57 or sm58 for under 100 bucks. both sound good on vocals and guitar. learn how to record yourself, write your songs get em laid out and let me make em pop.

I actually like a lot of the stuff I recorded on my phone before, like some of the covers for the Chorus compilations. But when I tried it this time it sounded really underwhelming so I gave up haha

My band actually built a studio in my drummers basement. I’ll post some pictures later and tag you in it, it’s pretty sick. I’m mostly being lazy / i live in a tiny apartment and don’t want to have to leave. I just need to suck it up though instead of half assing something

for being a phone you can get surprisingly competent results. but competent is as far as i go. a computer with a proper interface, mic, and digital audio workstation will go so far even if your equipment is cheap.

Well played. Very depressing though. I think you, and a few others from this thread would be very good in-person friends if given the opportunity!
