    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

Semi-Related Story: back in the day my mom banned my dad from doing laundry because he didn't read labels and used bleach instead of fabric softener. He ruined 4 of my favourite shirts, and all of my jeans. I was pissed.

I once got a weird bacterial infection on my butt from a gross hotel spa. That’s my TMI story for today

I get so pissed when people touch my laundry! I’m very particular about how I do my laundry. But that is absolutely awful! And hilarious

Maybe, but he was never forced to do laundry in the first place.

My wife and I each do our own laundry. And as soon as our kids are capable of understanding the concepts and reaching the machines, they will also do their own laundry.

My job has a new ticketing system for IT. You have to choose from a dropdown when you need the issue fixed by. Naturally, I chose an hour out for required completion date. I get an error message "required completion date can not be before expected completion date" They set the expected completion out a day!! That's unacceptable. I could wait up to a day to have an issue with my desktop or laptop to be addressed; Ridiculous.

I set it a second past the expected completion date haha.

Why does IT always act like it's the biggest burden when you need their help fixing something? Like isn't this what you get paid for?

Because a large amount of IT tickets have simple solutions that can be easily addressed by either power cycling, or a quick Google/YouTube search. Their time feels wasted in comparison to more challenging problems they know they could be applying their knowledge to.

I need to bring my laptop to IT because the screen is broken, but they're apparently forcing everyone to switch from Macs to PC's and I don't want to do that, so I'm just suffering with the broken screen/external monitor.

Sure, but on the flip side, I have other things to do too, so I'll try for a little bit to figure it out myself, but I'm not going to spend very long on it when there's someone who will know what to do right away who is getting paid to know that information.

You have no IDEA, the sheer technological incompetence older employees display (not trying to be ageist, they simply didn't grow up with natural implementation like we have). I've seen IT tickets for turning caps lock off, or closing out a window, how to compose/send emails, how to open/save word documents...the list goes on and on. Problem being, their issues aren't presented as incompetence to IT, they are presented as real problems or bugs, which takes inexperienced IT workers time to pick up on. Imagine dealing with that allll day long.

    exactly what I was thinking.

when I've had to fix issues for people they either didn't try any common sense fixes such as power on/off or they went so far down a rabbit hole of fixes that they messed up even further stuff by installing drivers and extra software that is not needed/annoying/harmful.

I'm sure @Larry David is a computer wiz though so this doesn't apply to him.

I've fixed issues on my own, impatiently waiting for them haha

yep. I always tell people to imagine teaching their moms/dads/grandparents to use a phone/computer. but in a professional setting where you can't just tell them that their old and dumb like I do with my mom haha.

Outside of turning the computer off and back on, or checking for (approved) updates, our computer usage policy doesn't allow us to do anything else to try and fix issues on our own. So it's annoying when you're having an issue and have to bring it to IT and they treat it as a burden.

I'll save you a trip. Did you try turning it on and off again?

That being said, I can imagine there are incredibly frustrating moments like some of what you guys are describing. Lot's of respect for the IT people out there - but I usually try to figure it out first and if I can't, I really don't need attitude because I ask for help.
