A store called Aldi just opened up in my town. I’ve never been to one, is it worth checking out?

Definitely. It's the cousin of Trader Joe's. Everything is store brand/generic brand, but really cheap and generally decent to good quality. Some of them even have big organic sections these days.

used to really like their pizza. think I burned myself out on it.

an aldi just opened near me too. they have some pretty cheap stuff and it's an interesting store. I wouldn't compare it to trader joe's though, more like a smaller version of a full size grocery store but with a focus on store brands and saving costs.

I swear some of the stuff is the same, just packaged differently. The selection isn't as broad or unique as TJ's, but for basics it's pretty, pretty, pretty good.

I'm sure as @KidLightning said they have a lot of repackaged stuff that's the same from Trader Joe's which is nice, I was more speaking to the feel of the store and the focus of it. to me TJ is more like a knock off affordable whole foods, and Aldi is like a small version of a local grocery store, where you can run in for a few things instead of doing a big trip to HEB or Walmart or something.


Aldi is also definitely focused on the cost of things, make sure you take a quarter with you. you'll need it to get a cart.

 

if anybody has a Randalls/Safeway/Albertsons that delivers to your house let me know, that's how I get my groceries delivered for about 75% off sometimes.

got an order last week for $165 worth of groceries and stuff for $45 delivered. it's amazing.

 

I'm guessing since the thread died after I posted this everybody is checking to see if your local stores deliver.

What about Mariano's/Kroger?

 

I don't know if they have any delivery stuff since i don't have those near me. I have Randall's and it's a Safeway store so I know how to do that stuff.
