Maybe it’s the redneck in me, but Chris Stapleton might be near the top of my list.

 

I'm not very familiar with his music but he has an insanely great voice

 

Right now my AOTY is California Deluxe(Shocking I am biased right?)

That being said I have a 85% certainty the new SOTY is going to make a last minute grab for that title

 

My AOTY is between:

Paramore - After Laughter
Lorde - Melodrama
Wolf Alice - Visions of a Life
Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile To The Surface
Perfume Genius - No Shape
Gang of Youths - Go Farther In Lightness

Doesn't matter which one I'll choose, really, they're all excellent

Also, I found out today that Matt Fazzi has been their touring guitarist this whole tour! He did great at the show I went to and remember thinking he looked familiar.

Have you ever listened to Rare Futures?

 

I don’t like a deluxe reissue of an album from 2016 being on someone’s 2017 list.

It doesn’t sit well with me!!

 

I just found out about it today from stalking Fazzi's Facebook. It's on my to-do list. Any good?

 

The new Glassjaw record will likely be my 2017 favorite.

 

He really does! I listen to a lot of country music, but barely any of it was recorded in the last 40 years. Artists like Chris and Jason Isbell are breaths of fresh air.

 

Artists like that are so special. I need to listen to both of them more

 

It’s ok. Not my favorite, but worth a listen. Saw them open for O’Brother and The Dear Hunter last year and I enjoyed their set. I believe they only have one full length out at the moment

 

I mean it had a whole Albums worth of new material on it. It wasn’t a Deluxe in the sense of just 3 bonus tracks

QOTSA has a high possibility of taking AOTY for my list. It’ll most likely be between them and Manchester, despite how much I like the new St Vincent record. Those two bands just put out such quality stuff this year.

 

That Perfume Genius album blew me away this year. That album woke me right up when I heard Otherside side for the first time. Such crazy Disintegration vibes coming off those explosive chords.
