Around here (or especially in southwest Virginia) there’s a specific style/flavor of pickle that’s called that, whether it’s made by actual Amish groups or just homemade versions. Usually has kind of a less intense vinegar flavor and a fresher feel, with the taste sort of crossing the line between traditional dill and a sweeter kind.
@Ken this brand is super delicious!! They’re probably the closest I’ve tasted to my favorite homemade version of the same flavor. I especially love adding some of the onions in on sandwiches or dicing those up with the pickles to make deviled eggs. Bread|&|Butter|Pickles|(15oz)
i'm sayinnnnn, you eat 4-5 grillos and it feels like you literally go out of your body and float into the air where the lord caresses ya cheek
Every recipe for them starts out great and then is absolutely ruined by cinnamon and allspice and cloves, blech. That’s why I love the Amish bread and butter style, the sweetness only comes from sugar and the spices stay savory.
