My point is, this guy isn't a Nazi sympathiser, he's just a lowest common denominator entertainer, for the most part.

The chances of me having any kind of two-way discussion with you are zero, Jason. I think I'm asking genuine questions and I don't think I'm saying anything so outlandish that you can't see my point of view..

If he was genuinely shocked at what those guys did, he wouldn't have posted the video to make money off of it and make a fucking avatar for the video a picture of him "shocked." He was purposefully being malicious and baiting viewers to check out his "shocking" reaction. He paid for a service he knew they would follow through with and then tried to claim innocence when they did.

Makes me partially jealous that they can record their lives, do some editing a post a video every day and be millionaires, but geesh!!!!

Yep highest grossing You Tube creator on there. $8 million last year. I’m assuming that’s the highest he has earned.

I've watched some of his videos a few years ago, mostly his play through of The Last of Us. I agree, for the most part he is generally irritating, but made me chuckle here and there.

Outside of this unfortunate situation, he's honestly not a bad dude. As a previous poster stated, he's donated millions of his money to charity. Yes, I agree with most in saying he was very foolish in doing what he did.

But honestly, and I know I'm probably going to get backlash for this, I feel that as each year passes, the majority of our race just becomes more and more sensitive. I'm not defending pewdiepie in any way, but honestly, unless you yourself are Jewish, were directly tied to the holocaust or a similar tragedy aimed soley for racist purposes, or have a family member/relative/friend who was directly tied to the holocaust, then you shouldn't be getting so offended by this. And I highly doubt 99% of this thread are Jewish.

Once again to reiterate, what pewdiepie did was in extremely poor taste and I do not defend his actions, but sometimes the wrong people get offended by the wrong subject matter.

See you in hell, or see you when I see you. Prestigious

Disney, founded by a notorious racist and anti-semite, cuts ties with a man for making other people make anti-semitic jokes - the world has come far

Legit tho regardless of the intention of the jokes, which I'm dead certain were saying "look at what I can make people say for money" - it's still not fuckin cool. As one of the biggest youtubers in the world, you have a gigantic audience and fanbase, and as such, influence. That's something that needs to be used responsibly. Even when framing those jokes you got other people to say as "bad", even within the context of why those jokes were made, it still, to an extent, goes a step into normalising that sort of humour, which is why people are getting mad.

  7. more than anything to me it comes down to being bad comedy

Idk man I really can't see it as a "genuine" attempt at comedy. If you want shock value laughs, there are other, better ways to get them. Promoting Nazi ideas on multiple occasions in the name of a joke seems like, at the very best, a really bizarre fascination with ethnic genocide. Personally, I see it as something a lot more sinister than a peculiar interest.

  10. You do realize how silly it is to tell someone what they can or can't be offended by, right?

I never said that anyone in this thread can or cannot be offended by what transpired. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm sure the majority of people will agree that pewdiepie's acts were deplorable, and anyone has the right to express just that. However, it's a little ridiculous for people who aren't even of the Jewish faith to say they are offended by something of this nature, considering it has no ties to them. Like I said, anybody has the right to express their distaste on the matter, I would never take that right away from them.

  12. So it's ridiculous to be offended by jokes about actual genocide if you're not Jewish?

Can't stand this dude, from what little I've seen of him in the past.

Having watched only the video embedded a couple pages back, and not read any details of the other videos of concern, I'm torn - but fall slightly more on the side of Richard here, I guess.

There's no defending what he did in that vid, first of all. But as to his motives and personal prejudices? I don't know, honestly. I'm normally the first to make the arguments Richard makes about extreme oversensitivity and free speech, but the "joke" in that video actually does strike me as unsettling.

I get the South Park comparisons, but this feels substantially more out of left field and unwarranted in the context of his video (as opposed to a typical SP/IASIP/etc. episode where it's fully expected out of the gate). I think the most likely explanation is that he's just an idiot blowhard desperate for attention at any cost, but the chances of something more sinister seem nontrivial. (Really, couldn't he have accomplished an equivalent laugh there -- the core joke being the for-hire Indian dudes making fools of themselves -- using any number of subjects that aren't preposterously dark?) If this type of thing is a recurring theme in 10 other uploads of his it raises the concern further, too.

Well, the definition of genocide is the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group. So, if the matter at hand, genocide, pertains to you in any way, then yeah, you have every right to be offended. You do realize that genocide is completely different from any form of basic murder. Genocide is reserved for one certain race or party. Basic murder could be inflicted upon anyone regardless of race. For a Christian to say that they are offended by the holocaust is ludicrous. Christans weren't the causalities of the holocaust. I'am not Jewish, I can express my opinion that the holocaust was a complete and utter tragedy, but for me to say that I'm offended by it is irrational.

I don't understand the need for the insult. I didn't come in here attacking anybody. I stayed respectful towards everybody and was only expressing my opinion, just as everyone else in here did. I wasn't trying to get banned or start an argument.

  21. Your posts in this thread are insulting to everyone with a brain. Your posts are not respectful, and the "opinion" is ignorant, absurd, and downright verifiably wrong in multiple ways.

Thats a nice thing for the creator/founder of this website to say to someone. Just outright insulting someone unprovoked. I could understand if I came in here insulting you or someone else, but just because you don't agree with my opinion you feel the need to insult me and put me down. I never did that to you man. You throw out bans over insignificant things. A few years ago you banned a buddy of mine simply because he didn't agree with your views on a certain band. Again in that situation you continued to insult him and ban him, all because you were upset that he didn't agree with your opinion. So that's how you run your website? You ban anyone who doesn't agree with you or has similar views? Shocking abuse of authority.

Don't worry, we all know your next witty remark, "well if he was your buddy then no wonder I banned him." Newsflash dude, a lot of people on this site don't like you for these exact reasons of you insulting people for not agreeing with your opinion. That's a red flag at you buddy. You should be setting an example for your fellow users. Keep on being a keyboard warrior cyber bully, hope it continues to work out for you.
