I've only seen Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, and Eraserhead. Mulholland Drive was my first, was good on my first viewing and a masterpiece on my second. After that I would probably rank them LH > BV > Eraserhead. I was half falling asleep when I watched Eraserhead which was probably not a great idea but I wasn't vibing with it very much.

Need to see Twin Peaks ASAP obviously

Eraserhead is awesome on repeat viewings, especially if you’re stoned lol

For those of you that don’t know, David Lunch posts two videos on his YouTube channel everyday. One is a weather report. The other is where he picks a random ball (numbered 1-10) from a jar and shows the camera and announces the number.

Lost Highway! Pure beauty, even in its ugliness... and the music: Trent Reznor, Bowie,... just wow!

Just sat down for Inland Empire 4k restoration in the theater, one of his I haven’t seen yet. Expecting weird shit.

Lost Highway is going to screen near me soon too; is it any more accessible than Inland Empire ? Because I really did not enjoy IE. I loved blue velvet and twin peaks (including S3).

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

definitely more accessible than IE but very much a Lynch film haha. it's an underrated favourite of mine actually, like a grittier nastier Mulholland Drive

Lost Highway is great. Definitely want to watch that one again at some point.

I think its still on the more abstract side of his stuff but definitely more accessible than Inland Empire.

  18. Reviving this thread because The Music Box here in Chicago just ran a big ol series on him, I watched

    • A collection of his commercial works and a smattering of short films/series (including Over Yonder which was certainly something)
    • Lost Highway
    • Blue Velvet
    • Dune
    • Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (plus a screening of Twin Peaks: The Return Part 8 afterwards)
    • Inland Empire
All were first time watches except Dune and Part 8 of The Return and while due to My Brand™ it's embarrassing that I hadn't seen most of these films, getting to see them for the first time in a theater was kinda magical. They showed several non-Lynch films that were either adjacent docs or films that inspired him, and I also saw Sunset Boulevard for the first time as part of that, which was really great and felt surprisingly light against everything else lol.

  19. Bummed that I missed the rest of his feature films though (I haven't watched Mullholland Drive in a minute and would've loved to do a theater screening), I still have to see The Elephant Man, The Straight Story, and Wild At Heart.

  21. Special shout out to @fieldbelow for attending many of those with me and also hanging out for Part 8 despite not having seen The Return

    you or your memory

@Kistler Kinda wish I went to more screenings!

Beyond the original Twin Peaks, Mulholland Dr, and Dune, I hadn't seen anything else from David Lynch and getting to see a handful of his movies in a theater was such a fantastic experience. And the audiences for the screenings we went to were really great, there was such a reverence for the work. Fire Walk With Me or Blue Velvet may have been my favorite, though I haven't been able to shake Lost Highway since seeing it.

Also a thank you to the person in Nadine cosplay outside the Fire Walk With Me screening handing out homemade buttons.

Now I need to finally watch all of The Return!

  23. If and when they do another David Lynch series (or the Twin Peaks festival Daniel Knox originally wanted to do) I’m just buying a pass and taking off work lol
