I've been saying "It's what it is" on a regular basis. I'm not sure if I said it a lot before the movie or if I just notice it more now.
just checked imdb and it looks like Scorsese is scheduled to work on a Teddy Roosevelt biopic. like I said, The Aviator is one of my favorite biopics.
Verhoeven is a good one. dunno who’s been done, this is the first of these threads I’ve seen, but I’d suggest David Lynch Kelly Reichardt Steven Soderbergh Richard Linklater Billy Wilder Kurosawa Spike Lee Paul Schrader Claire Denis
Spielberg Ridley Scott David Cronenberg like Scorsese these would be good because they have larger bodies of work with some decent variance
What have you seen? He does so much different stuff so competently it’s hard not to find a lot to like, for me
Ive seen a decent chunk of his stuff I liked Informant and Magic Mike the most probably. The Knick is a cool show. Traffic from what I remember was bad. Why does he make films like Oceans 12 and Side Effects? that new netflix movie of his has good subject matter but the trailer makes it seem pretty dreg. Whats your favorites from him? I do agree hes hard to pin from project to project.
First of all Ocean’s Twelve is great. But he’s always messing around with stuff. For an interesting selection I’d go Sex, Lies, and Videotape Schizopolis King of the Hill The Limey Out of Sight Ocean’s Eleven Solaris Contagion Logan Lucky High Flying Bird Let Them All Talk
I just watched Ocean's Twelve for the first time in a while a few days ago. It's good until Ocean and the Night Fox meet, then it starts to fall apart. Overall, it's okay. I appreciate that it tried to do something different though.
Soderbergh is really playing with his European influences in that one, which makes sense, but every Clooney/Pitt scene sings
I just now watched Shutter Island for the first time in my life. While I understand now why people think it’s low tier Marty I still had a blast
