I'm moving to the area in two weeks for a job, so it's time to start posting in here! Working in Richardson and still apartment hunting but leaning towards living in Plano. If anyone has any recs for pretty much anything, that'd be awesome. My knowledge of the area is basically just downtown Dallas.
You're going to be near an Alamo Drafthouse, which is my favorite place to see movies. Keep an eye on their website if you want to catch special screenings and events, which they do several times a week
Really depends on what you like to do. Definitely Alamo, but what else do you like to do. I've lived in Richardson my whole life (35 years).
I run a lot so finding good trails or parks is a priority. My recruiter recommended Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano and Katy Trail in Dallas, but any others to check out would be great.
I don't know how good it is for running, since I've only been down small parts of it, but Rowlett Creek has a nice trail that's got some cool nature/wildlife.
Sounds like a good Chorus meet up idea. I officially got a place in downtown Plano. Very excited about it!
I guess my schedule just became 100% more flexible so I can definitely meet up next time. I'm going to be in town Friday and Saturday.
Cool, welcome! Plano is pretty good area. Arbor Hills is a good nature preserve and you will be living moderately closer to that. as far as other things, dont know what youre into but i made a kind of shitty list. first part is the area and the second part is places i like. Deep Ellum-Serious Pizza plus nice to walk around on good day Greenville-Truckyard, Good Records, Granada theatre and Sundown at granada, Blue Goose ($2 drinks on Tuesday, $3 margaritas Thursday), Kosta's Cafe (greek), Buffalo Exchange Uptown-Katy Trail Ice House (think they have one of these in Plano too) Downtown-Dallas Museum of Art (free admission), Klyde Warren park Bishop Arts District is cool to walk around, don't have any specifics there i know im forgetting a lot but hopefully this helps some.
Thanks! That's super helpful. I've got a free week there before the job starts so I plan to explore Deep Ellum, Greenville, and Bishop Arts for sure. And take advantage of happy hour specials of course.
sure thing, i'll let you know if i think of anything else cause know there's definitely more. ha im all about drink specials. best of luck with the move.
