Havent watched Dexter since prob S6 but my close friend told me the new season ended so I watched the final scene. If they did something similar (not involving Harrison but someone else close) in like season 5 to wrap up the series it would have been a near perfect series. The Harrison thing seems like a cheap shock moment but I haven't watched in years and didn't see the build up. I did hear pretty good things from this season overall but I still can't believe how bad they butchered this series.
This is officially the most watched Showtime series of all time. The season finale had the most viewers the network has had since Homeland in 2013. Showtime has been pretty stagnant for years, got a feeling 2022 is going to be a huge rebound year for them.
What’s weird is that it’s not at all shocking. It honestly felt like it was the only thing that could happen in my eyes. Shoulda been deb!
Finally caught the last episode last night... Loved it, definitely got teary eyed at the end. Was happy with how it ended, so good.
If Dexter had any self awareness he would of just thought Harrison the code but changed the number one rule to "NEVER interfere with an ongoing police investigation" because his life would pretty much fine if he stuck to that code imo
Honestly it was hard to really buy into the emotional ending after the original finale and the sometimes-hammy irreverence of New Blood, but I think if I ever go back to watch the full series again it'll be a more satisfying way to end.
I’m 4 episodes in and I like it so far. Definitely has that Dexter feel and tone. I’m glad the reception is positive.
Finally finished this new season. Idk guys, I really enjoyed it. The original series ended so so poorly—this was such a VAST improvement and return-to-form that I actually feel satisfied. I also really enjoyed this season’s setting and overall wintery atmosphere. Sure, the final episode felt rushed and with some questionable choices, but the overall payoff worked for me.
Little late, but just finished watching New Blood. Brought back the feeling I got when watching the first few seasons. I absolutely loved it and couldn't be happier with the way they ended it.
All I care about for the Dexter Cinematic Universe is Masuka. I don't care how or what I just need more Masuka.
Three ‘Dexter’ spinoffs in the works Showtime announced Monday that it has placed a straight-to-series order for another Dexter spinoff, titled Dexter: Origins. The series will see young Dexter Morgan at the outset of his transition into the avenging serial killer he would become. It will begin as Dexter graduates college to join Miami Metro, where he meets younger versions of many of the characters we came to know in the original Dexter, starring Emmy nominee Michael C. Hall. The network also revealed it's developing a new version of the popular 2021 limited series Dexter: New Blood. This time around, the series will depict the ongoing emergence of Dexter's son Harrison. Additionally, Showtime is exploring other projects based on various characters from the Dexter-verse. https://people.com/tv/new-dexter-spinoffs-coming-showtime/
Im okay with a spinoff about what Harrison gets up to but outside of that there is zero need to continue. The MCU approach to everything is exhausting. They've gone beyond beating the dead horse and now they're throwing it into a meat grinder
