I didn't see that you had already posted the patch notes, my bad. You didn't post the season page or the expansion page though!
It should be, since it's an already existing game. I assume we will get full confirmation on Thursday during the PS5 event.
Did this thread predict the future? Started in 2016 talking about an expansion from this year. What foresight.
Beyond Light is the expansion that releases Sept 22, 2020. The Exo Stranger from D1 is returning, and investigating a reactivated darkness pyramid on Europa, which is a world that fell to the darkness when the first collapse happened. They are somehow rewriting Europa to be the birth place of the Exos, and the raid will be investigating the Deep Stone Crypt. Destiny 2 will be removing Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury and the Leviathan will be cycled out of the game, the D1 Cosmodrome is returning, and new locations will be added (more below). Exotics tied to any of those locations will be reworked or have other avenues of acquiring. They are calling this move "putting things in the destiny content vault" so they can cycle things in and out. Also, they do not want another "number on the box" so destiny 3 is presumably years away if at all. With Beyond Light there is a new element subclass refered to as Stasis, which is a dark power. It will be an entire new element that joins solar, arc, and void in the skills, armor and weapons systems. Each upcoming annual expansion will have a brand new location coming with it, too. Expansion release calendar is as follows: 2020 - Beyond Light 2021 - The Witch Queen 2022 - Lightfall Oh, and the Vault of Glass is returning sometime in Y4 (not at launch).
Also, if you have Destiny 2 on PS4 or Xbox One they will upgrade for free on the next gen consoles and you can still play with people still on previous gen consoles
Just booted up the game for the first time in a long time and I'm really enjoying it. I think the new content with Beyond Light will be amazing if they pull it off the way they intended to.
Played today for the first time since Osiris/Warmind. Starting the Forsaken quest line, and played a match of gambit. I’ve missed being into this game.
That's how I felt too. It felt comfortable like coming home again as cheesy as that sounds. I was addicted to Destiny 1 with my friend and I played the first couple months of Destiny 2 religiously, but it all just got too grindy with not enough payoff and the cosmetic rewards and such weren't great. I'm really glad to see how much they're trying to change things.
I'd honestly say if you're looking to come back, September will be the time, per usual. This season looks great in terms of story progression but it is more of the same bounty farming and upgrading a seasonal deal business. The new dungeon looks really cool though, and the new engram system is quite nice in terms of farming what you want, but ultimately, it's more of the same if the last couple of seasons have turned you off of the game.
I will say tho, there is an element of excitement not knowing what's really coming this season as they prep for the fall. Them surprise dropping a dungeon today was huge.
It's always so confusing coming back to this game because there are a thousand menu items, twenty people to talk to and glowing inventory items up the wazoo. It's hard to know where to start up again. I just wish they had drop down items for things in your power level range.
Yes! This too- I forgot to mention that. That will be a boon to fractured clans. Also Destiny 2 will run at 4k, 60FPS on next gen consoles!
