lmao their tweet about nerfing the Lense into the ground and then "come January we will balance it" is so fucking embarrassing.

But at least theyre actually admitting to their mistake and not pulling a "well we believe players just misunderstood our intentions" kind of thing like they usually do. Also sounds like Heroic Strikes will indeed be getting modifiers at some point.

Also RIP Faction Rally pushed back to next week probably

But that locks out the vanilla-only players from the Heroic/Prestige of Leviathan, which was the problem. The 300-Power prestige mode would just be for them, everyone with the expansions gets the current-Power version.

    There are actually a few:

The Endgame and Overall Game Design
First, Bungie designed Destiny 2 to be more friendly to people who do not plan on playing Destiny daily or close to daily. They removed a lot of the things that made Destiny 1 fun to grind, made skill customization/choice less interesting, and de-powered Guardians overall. But the worst change came in the form of an unsatisfying endgame experience that has the game shedding players. Until Curse of Osiris launched, the only endgame activities were Trials, the Prestige Nightfall, and the Normal/Prestige Raid. Trials has mostly been positively received, but the Raid has caused an uproar over the lack of meaningful rewards to try for and the overall unrewarding nature of the activity. Instead of having the chance to get drops throughout the raid, you're only guaranteed a drop when you defeat the final boss, with a chance to get one more drop from one of the other encounters, but beyond that you just get tokens, which can be turned in to an NPC at the Tower to get raid loot. In addition, there are no special perks on the raid weapons or armor, like there have been in other raids, so the loot feels generic and not unique, despite it looking cool. And there is basically no reason to put oneself through the Prestige raid because it doesn't give you anything special aside from the same armor but palette-swapped (and still without any raid-specific perks). Now there's a new shorter raid if you own Curse of Osiris, but the problem with the new raid is that you can really only get a drop from two encounters, only one of which is guaranteed, and the tokens you get for doing it are for the same vendor that will only give you gear from the first raid. So people feel like there's not enough to do.

    The Eververse/Gambling
So then there's the loot boxes. They basically made it so that the only place to earn any emotes, exotic weapon ornaments, most shaders, and legendary/exotic ships/sparrows/ghosts are the Bright Engrams at Eververse. People are pissed off that items which could potentially be worth grinding for, giving the game more replayability, have been locked inside of blind-buy loot boxes. This includes things that were previously earnable through other means, plus the whole "they turned shaders into limited-use items and hid a bunch of the best ones inside of loot boxes" thing. A related controversy to this was that Bungie had been throttling our XP gains secretly in order to make it more difficult to level up past 20 and receive a free Bright Engram.

Locking Away Content Behind the DLC
When the Curse of Osiris expansion launched, Bungie raised the Power level requirement of the Prestige Raid and Prestige Nightfall to a level that you can't attain without the expansion, plus made Trials only playable if you have the expansion. This pissed a ton of people off because they basically removed features from the base game that people paid for in order to sell them back to us as DLC, essentially. Doing this also made it impossible to earn certain trophies/achievements if you didn't have the expansion. This also includes Bungie's decision to not have Heroic strikes in the base game, only to sell them back to us in the first DLC.

Those are the main ones, basically.

  15. no. especially with longer ttk the last word would be very fair and balanced in pvp right now.

Well, to be fair, the Prometheus Lens was just given to everyone this weekend, even if you didn't have the DLC, so it wasn't something required grinding for. But also it sucks that they're basically just saying "yeah forget about using this thing until some point in January," because it's a great, well-balanced gun in PVE that I'm 200% certain will be nerfed into uselessness, even when it comes back, just to fix its issues in PVP.

  19. it's still a fun game, right? like the endgame is shit and some of the aspects of the game are bad, but crucible is still fun and running strikes or the raid or grinding milestones will playing with us chorus peeps or at least being the chat with everyone makes it 1000x better

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Honestly, playing with everyone on here and bullshitting in the chat makes this game still super fun

idk what happens when the campaign ends. seems like, other than pvp, post-campaign content is strictly raiding and the random public events that pop up throughout the world?

i've had a blast so far, no doubt it'll be more fun with you all. but if they start nerfing things that i work hard for instead of properly balance-testing content before releasing it, i'm fucking out lol

I've been thinking about this more and more lately, that Destiny 3 will likely release on the PS5/NeXtbox. I mean, the last console generation lasted more than the formerly-standard 5 years (technically it lasted a little less than 8, if you count it as starting when the 360 launched in November 2005 and ending when PS4 launched in October 2013). But, the last generation was a much bigger technological leap than this one was; in fact, if everyone remembers, a lot of people were questioning whether this current generation was starting too early, because to keep costs low the tech wasn't as huge of an improvement as it could have been (both PS4 and Xbox One originally launched with only 500GB hard drives!).

I would personally be on the lookout for news of new consoles starting around E3 2018 at the earliest. Wouldn't be surprised if they're announced Spring 2019 and launch Fall 2019, though (similarly to how the PS4 was announced Spring 2013 and launched Fall 2013). And that would put Destiny 3 right in line to launch alongside the new hardware, assuming a 2-year turnover this time instead of 3. Hopefully they don't straddle the generations like last time, though, considering how terrible of a decision that was. Although I don't see how they don't also launch on current-gen considering how much money they stand to lose by shutting those players out. If it launches first on current-gen (like, September 2019) and then again when the new consoles come out (closer to the holidays, like late October/early November 2019), that would really suck.

cant deny that D2 FEELS great to play from a pure technical viewpoint. also, dylan anthony and i were talking about this last night, the lore and universe is really cool and makes the game even more fun. unfortunately its the endgame, the recycled armor/weapons, selling D1 exotics and features back to us in DLC, and just overall shadiness from Bungie thats keeping a lot of us from really devoting a lot of time to this game.

also last night we learned that Dylan likes 2 shift the blame a lot and he is very unprofessional

I don't think that'll happen. I think if they do straddle the generations and don't release simultaneously, it'll only be until the new consoles release. Kind of like what happened to PC players with vanilla D2. But it is Bungo, so who knows.
