Yeah I agree with you, old chum. One of the things I really wish Bungie would do is tweak the scaling of the game content. If I’m 30 Power levels above the content, I want to feel like it.
WoW has been playing around with scaling content but it’s only the content that’s level 100-110 and it doesn’t really affect dungeons/raids because they have their own tier systems (normal, heroic, mythic) Something Destiny 2 could reap the benefits of is the mythic dungeon system. It’s like rifts in Diablo 3. Say you beat a Heroic Strike and at the end you’re given a key. This key is, say, X Heroic Strike+1. Now you can go into the Strike playlist and select that key, it will then put you in a slightly more difficult version of that Heroic strike with slightly better loot and if you beat the strike you get a +2. Then you go again and keep upgrading your key. If you lose the strike your key gets downgraded. The weekly goal would be to beat a +10 strike and once reset day comes you’ll have a very powerful engram waiting for you. Ideally the Strikes would have specific loot for each individual strike. Nightfall strikes could take this system and make it more restrictive with a time limit and more interesting mechanics BUT have higher level rewards and more abundant rewards.
im really cautiously excited for CoO (i still want to read that as Court Of Oryx and not Curse Of Osiris) because on one hand its a step in the right direction but it doesnt seem like enough yknow? Like, I'm worried this expac is going to turn into "hey heres 4 new ways to get tokens!" kind of thing. at the very least, as a Destiny lore nerd, I'm SUPER hyped to meet Osiris. I hope he lives up to what we've heard of him, sometimes characters in RPGs cant quite live up to the mystique other NPCs give them (heres looking at you, Hellscream in WoW)
not really, quite a few of those are D1 re-skins haha. im sure theres more but as far as "new" sets go i think the only really new models we've seen were the ones in the armor/weapons trailer. the beetle scarab Titan set looks rad. the weapons are harder to tell but i dont mind bringing back old Exotics since most of the ones we have in D2 are boring as shit
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that trailer made me slightly hyped. Still waiting for them to follow through on all the changes over the next months or so before I start giving them too much credit.
A lot of people were saying the raid lair was going to be re-skins of the same rooms. with just different bad guys and objectives. But it looks quite different. Gear wise, I love the drastic look of the shells and ships as well.
Yeah something I’ve noticed reading the forums and reddit is people saying “I can’t wait to do x tomorrow” or “Tuesday I’ll stay up all night doing this!” When it’s clear they didn’t read ALL of the blog post saying that a lot of the good stuff will be coming later this month or early next year IE Masterworks, the raid lair, crucible fixes, vendor changes, etc
We won’t know until it comes out but I doubt it’ll be all that wild. Still, better than nothing I guess. Now see was that so hard? You could’ve just said that in your first post lol
Wasn’t the main complaint that they were recycling the Leviathan as a setting, not that there would literally just be different enemies/objectives in the same rooms? Like, people wanted a Vex raid on Mercury, but instead we get more Cabal in a different section of the same setting as the last raid.
It’s a well-made trailer. I’m just looking forward to having new reasons to actually play Destiny more than anything else, for however brief of a time that lasts. The game is fun to play but I just have no drive to go back to it. With D1, I looked forward to playing Destiny all the time, grinding for god rolls on meta weapons or trying to get ornaments for my raid gear or any number of other things. Because of the poor design decisions Bungie made, a lot of what made D1 so compelling to return to is gone, but the game is still fun, so I’ll take what new content I can get.
Yeah I’m kind of ambivalent about the changing reset times. I’m at work anyway so it doesn’t really make a difference to me if reset is in the early morning or at midday (like it is now). It’s stupid that the preload is only up for an hour before launch though. People with slow connections that are able to start playing right away have to wait now.
