And I know your criticism might be valid but god damn man, I'm just fucking exhausted. I can't go in a single fucking forum that isn't people complaining about something and disguising their complaints as "criticism or crictical thinking"(not talking about you). I just need some fucking positivity somewhere around this place. I guess I'm just taking it out in here because I've literally invested more time playing the destiny games than anyone other game in my life and I feel like I owe Bungie some slack for some missteps because they've already given me way more than I could ever have thought I would gotten when the game was first announced

  2. the positivity is that Bungie eventually listens to these complaints and addresses them (for the most part). We're going through the cycle of D1 all over again. This is exactly what happened between when the base game game out and dark below was announced and released. Look at how different then entire gear/upgrade/infusion system was from Sept 2014 to taken king to rise of iron.

they implement new things or try new things out, the community figures out what works and what doesn't, we raise hell, bungie listens, they fix it, then we find new problems, rinse and repeat.

Here's the problem: the game has serious issues, issues that actively detract from the ability to fully enjoy the rest of it. Nobody is denying that the base-level experience of moving and shooting in Destiny 2 is fun; they're the best shooting mechanics on the market in my opinion. The problem is that all these prominent members of the community focusing on Bungie just having gotten the base shooting mechanics right (when that isn't even an achievement because they were already great in Destiny 1 and this is just the same game engine all over again) comes across as disingenuous. And it's also not helpful. Hence why people saying "Hey, the game is still fun and I'm having fun with it" annoys the hell out of people. Ok, fine, people like PopeBear and MesaSean enjoy the mindless base-level of pulling the trigger and moving around in the game, but the community doesn't need Bungie stans right now, they need the most prominent members of the community vocally on their side. It's ok to acknowledge what the game gets right, but right now the focus needs to be on how to fix the many things it gets wrong.

The reason why you're seeing all of the "negativity," as you call it, is because the dedicated player base of this franchise is angry. And yeah, a bunch of people are going way overboard with it, but that doesn't invalidate the majority of the criticism, which has been fair and serious. There's no reason to be overly positive right now because Bungie delivered a feature-incomplete game (again) that now has to be fixed by expansions (again) and everyone is fed up with this cycle repeating itself. It's a fool us once, shame on you, fool us twice, shame on us situation; except nobody is letting Bungie fool them this time. And it's not about hating the game, like, at all. Nobody would be this passionate if they didn't love the franchise and want it to be great. Nobody ever accomplished anything by being silent and moving on, or by pretending everything is fine when it very clearly isn't. Plus, it clearly worked because we're finally getting Bungie to break their code of silence and tell us exactly what is going to happen to change the game.

And Bungie doesn't deserve any, any slack. The slack was given to them during vanilla Destiny 1, because they were figuring out a new type of game that hadn't really ever been done before, plus launching a new IP, plus developing their first game post-Microsoft, plus were nowhere near as large of a studio as they are now. We gave them slack then and the game did get better until, finally, in year 3 we had the final version of Destiny 1, Age of Triumph, which was awesome and fun and rewarding and had a ton of things to do.

And then in comparison we get Destiny 2:
    -No random rolls
    -No strike loot
    -Reskins galore
-No record books, a fan-favorite feature
-Token system replacing random drops instead of supplementing it
    -No private matches at launch
-Missing fan-favorite PVP modes like Rumble
-No ability to select which PVP game type you want to play
-No ability to select specific strikes to play from the director
-No heroic strike playlist at launch
    -Took out strike scoring system
-Took out bounties and replaced them with daily challenges that you can't select
-Returning exotics instead of all new ones
-Shaders changed to limited-use with the best ones locked behind Bright Engrams
-PVE fun-factor ruined in favor of PVP balance
-No raid ship or sparrow, again because of Bright Engrams

An on and on. The slack has been given, but they grabbed that inch and took another mile along with it. So now here we are. At some point we have to step up and be vocal about what needs to change for this game to be as good as it could have and should have been. That's what we're seeing.

I mean, I have been HUGE in this Community from the start and it was never this bad even during Dark Below. They weren't cancelling streams and making posts that people need to behave better towards each other. It has def gotten much worse

  5. i think that's more of a testament to both how passionate the community is about this game and just how bad the flaws in D2 are than to the toxicity of the community itself. like anthony said, bungie deserves no slack at all.

It wasn't as bad then because people were more lenient with it being a new game for them and people gave them slack then because they were working through the kinks of the new franchise.

It's kind of inexcusable now after everything they went through with D1 to be going through the same exact thing with D2

Also I'm kind of getting annoyed with how Bungie and a lot of YouTubers/streamers seem to be using the gross behavior of the toxic but vocal minority of the community to sort of make Bungie out to be the victim and distract from the rest of the criticism.

A lot of these changes sound good, and was more than I was expecting this soon. Still have no goddamn idea why it is taking until 2018 to add private matches. Also they need to stop lying about the XP throttling and just own up to the fact that it was to push silver purchases. I’m really getting sick of “this was never our intention” when these developers get caught doing this garbage.

    But yeah, better than expected.

  13. Masterworks are exactly what the mod system should have been from the start. Good to see ornaments coming back for Armour. Wish they would have addressed raid specific perks but maybe those will drop with the raid masterwork weapons and Armour?

I wouldn’t count on anything that they didn’t specifically address being added, personally. Still don’t seem to be interested in doing anything about the strike-specific loot/raid-specific perks despite overwhelming community demand and those features being something they inexplicably dropped from Destiny 1.

Some of this sounds like a quick band aid until they have a larger overhaul in a big Sept 2018 expansion but there's still some decent changes here. I'm still at the very least curious to play the expansion next week.
