I love Denzel but as a pure rapper, I'd probably put Joey Bada$$, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Freddie Gibbs, JID, and maybe even J. Cole and Tyler above him. That's great company to be in, don't get me wrong, and not sure if all these guys count as the same "generation", but as diverse as he can be he has some pretty weak bars sometimes that bring him down. If he keeps improving he could easily top some of these guys though

I mean yeah lyrically Zel is nowhere near the best. He can deliver good stuff but this is also the dude who gave us "That's me at my Lois, no Peter Griffin" lmao. He's in contention mainly for energy + delivery, I think. The things this man can do with his voice are fucking insane, and so many great flows too

 

Yeah sorry it’s really hard to compare j cole to someone who does such a great cover of fucking bulls on parade. Zel is just too good.
