Diamond Eyes Gore Koi No Yokan White Pony Around the Fur Saturday Night Wrist Adrenaline S/T I got into Deftones late; right as Diamond Eyes was coming out in 2010. So I've always felt more of a connection to their newer material, but I love everything they've put out. And if Smile was any indication Eros would have/will be a monster as well.
i'm one of these lunatics! i just sort of think they keep improving as a band, and koi no yokan felt huge and oceanic in all the ways that diamond eyes felt extremely precise. (i think the records are pretty different, despite sharing a similar sound.) anyway i like gore more than both at this point, which is wild
(i've been a fan since white pony, and i thought diamond eyes was a real step back when it came out, lol, anyway this band is extremely good and all of their records reveal new things about themselves over time)
Man. I really want to like this, but it's just not clicking with me. It feels like there's just something missing. Maybe it needs to grow on me.
I'd like to see chino scream less and less and just use his voice to create those lush melodies that he's so good at. It would still work great against Steph's heavy riffs. This album shows that, along with songs like Lovers and Moana.
Maybe I need to listen to it more, but I don't really know if I'd consider this their "least heavy" record. I just think the heaviness is more calculated and it makes even more of an impact to me because of that.
Most of this has grown on me, but I'm still not as big on the first half of the record. Wonder if this will get a P4k review with all the coverage they've been posting.
That's what places them as one of the elite in the history of rock and metal - eight albums in, zero duff ones and still making some of the very best rock music around. What a band.
I resisted the leak so I've only heard the 3 songs they released. Excited to listen to Gore tomorrow!
Xenon and Pittura Infamante were my least favourite songs the first time I listened but I'm really fond of them both now.
