and I'm admittedly not super well versed in Diamond Eyes, so I'll be sure to give it another listen today (after I'm finished listening to KNY).

As far as comparing production on DE and KNY, I've always thought they fit their sounds well.

 

Just been listening to DE in the car, I think that album has my favourite guitar tones from these guys. Overall it just sounds juicy.

 

Here's a fun question: which is the better 3 album run?

White Pony > Self Titled > Saturday Night Wrist

Diamond Eyes > Koi No Yokan > Gore

Probably none of my favorites because they are the heavier tracks, probably Swerve City or Gore.

Weird, i was thinking this exact question to myself earlier. I think second is more consistent, S/T kinda let's down the first run. There's barely anything in it though.

 

1st.

Chi, and Chino's voice alone clinch it for me. Even though Chino was sort of weak on parts of SNW.

 

So does this change if you switch out SNW for ATF?

 

Also I'm listening to Gore (the song) and that part that's kind of a bridge (you know what I'm talking about) is so sick. 2:40-3:07.

EDIT: Ugh, the end of Phantom Bride. This band is unfairly good.

 

Is somebody eventually gonna start a bracket on this one?

 

Second one for me as well. I really think their later stuff is top-notch.

 

First because White Pony.

Weird one to pick though. Around The Fur > White Pony > Self Titled is one of the best three album runs ever.

 

I'm struggling to find a three album stretch by anyone that I regard any higher. Some order of Zeppelin albums maybe.

 

Gore is their weakest in a long min (still good tho!)

WP - s/t - SNW is their best run and one of the most solid runs out there

Minerva the track I would show someone new to the band (aaaand prob my fav Dtones track)

DE their best cover art altho WP is the most iconic

Sex Tape my fav video (from them and up there as one of my all time favs)

 

Both runs have two of my favorites so it’s tough to choose. I’ll go with the first because WP and S/T are too good.

 

My vote goes to the second one. Heard Gore a couple weeks ago and it holds up real well.

Fun Fact: I first heard of Deftones through a Dance Gavin Dance song, Caviar. Thank goodness for features.

 

Royal is a top five Deftones song for me
