I always get weirded out when I listen to Saturday Night Wrist and White Pony on Apple Music. There's a few changes to some of the songs on there and it just sounds wrong because I've listened to the originals so many times.
The very end of Passenger has Chino singing instead of just being instrumental. There are some structural changes to Hole in the Earth also.
Ew I hate that change on Passenger. Apple Music also only has the WP version with Back to School on it... there are two superior versions of that album that they should be featuring instead. Oh my god the HITE change is an abomination. I might have to cancel my subscription.
Google just reminded me that a year or so ago a "studio collection" of their catalog was released, with some changes to structure and the mix, and both versions are available on Spotify. I have heard these before but I forgot about them. So I guess some genius at Apple decided those are the versions we will hear from now on.
Do they make HITE more of a verse chorus verse chorus kinda thing or what? Anywhere I can hear these on youtube or something?
I just listened to both on Spotify and they are both consistent with exactly what I've always remembered both songs sounding like
Yeah they move the "I hate all my friends" part and change the vocals in the bridge. It's weird. I don't like it. I ended up uploading my SNW and WP CDs to my library and replacing those albums. I haven't noticed anything too different about the other albums on Apple Music.
literally one of the best songs ever. probably my 4th or 5th favorite song from them overall. Chino's masterpiece
i love this band but if you say in the same sentence this is “one of the best songs ever” and “their 4th or 5th best” i would recommend that you listen to more older music. are your top ten songs of all time filled with five deftones tracks?
idk man my "best songs ever" list is very very long. I have no conceivable grasp on what my top 10 of all time are. But I do know there are at least 5 Deftones songs I listen to and go "this is one of the best songs ever"
like "one of the best songs ever" is barely hyperbole and is a useful expression that doesn't imply the person using it has never heard music before 1992 or whatever
