Just looked at their FB page for the first time in a while and son of a fuck can I just make this my banner now? I will never have one that looks this cool...
True story: I used to be a pretty enthusiastic Christian, and the first time I listened to Pink Cellphone I vowed I'd never listen to it again, such was it's offensive content. I don't really have those beliefs any more though so earlier this year I listened to the track for the first time since the album came out, despite it being possibly my favourite Deftones album overall. I can't say that I feel like I was missing out.
I mean it looks nice but there isn't really anything special about it from a design standpoint. Very tasteful though!
One of my favorites for sure. Didn’t find out until much later that Scott Weiland did guest vocals on it.
So heavy I love it. Then the creepy frog sounding electronics come in with the tribal sounding drums at the very end.
No joke for years I thought the wailing in Knife Prty was Chino. That lady kills it on that track. Chills every time
There was a video online within the last few years where the lady that did the Knife Party vox did that part live with the band at a show. EDIT: nope. It was 09 at the Chi benefit show.
If I remember correctly, it was a bit embarrassing. I think it was at the Chi benefit show. EDIT: Yeah, what you said. Chino does his own really cool version of it live.
Getting heavily back into Glassjaw's Coloring Book, which in my mind has HEAVY Deftones vibes, is making me revisit Deftones' discography for the first time in a while.
Yeah definitely. It's cool to me how these two bands which in my mind grew out of pretty different rock music scenes ending up having quite a bit of overlap in their sound.
The bassist of my band said Glassjaw sounds like deftones with the singer of alien ant farm. The ex bassist of my band is now dead.
I mean, didn’t Daryl give vocal lessons to the singer of AAF or something?? At the very least, they were friends, I swear. I also don’t really think that band is that bad, so I can honestly hear that comparison and not feel negative about it lol.
The first AAF album is really good and had some truly great songs on it, 2nd had a couple of good tracks and the rest of their albums were pretty forgettable.
