Vocal mix for the new single sounds off to me. Looking forward to listening to the whole thing on Friday.
First couple tracks are good, not great, but from Hearts/Wires onward the album is fantastic. Some of their all time best songs are on the second half. Especially the title track and the closer.
Really loving Hearts/Wires. Been listening to the other singles too and I still like Prayers/Triangles. Doomed User has grown on me a little bit, but I think it's pretty mediocre.
I think Acid Hologram is one of the best songs here and certainly one of the most unique songs they have written, but other than that I agree. The last few tracks are some of their very best material. Glad you like it
Already one of my favorite moments out of their whole discography. So good. This is the perfect description of this record so far. We're on the same page as far as songwriting goes. This one and Geometric Headress are obviously going to be growers to me. That doomy part on the former is something I never expected them to write and I keep replaying it. Still not sure about Doomed User though. I'm a little bit more into it than few weeks ago but it sounds a bit out of place on this record. I appreciate it more if I see it as a throwback to their early stuff.
I really like Doomed User. I get why people don't dig it, especially with Chino's intentional 'anti-melody' vocal lines on it but I think it's a really good song. Not even close to being the best song on the album (it might even be the weakest) but it's a very good album track and I think it makes more sense if you listen to it within the context of the record - it fragments it really nicely. I haven't actually listened to the album since Sunday. Waiting for it in high quality now.
Geometric Headdress is great but definitely a grower. I don't think I enjoy the song half as much as I will in the future.
Seriously though - Rubicon. Was really welling up listening to the chorus last night. Best closer since Pink Maggit.
Man, a complete left turn from KNY. P/T and Doomed User sound so much better within the context of the album.
