This Place is Death is one of the best in the album. Love the lyrics, and referenced it in a song I wrote once haha.
Agreed that "When Girls" is amazing, but I was trying to keep the list focused on songs that I just don't see talked about, even on this thread. Also, it seems like it's something of a staple of their live sets.
I don't listen to their first two albums much at all, but if I went by album by album, my choices for underrated songs would look like this... WP: RX Queen, Teenager S/T: Needles And Pins, Anniversary SNW: Xerces, Combat DE: Beauty School, 976-EVIL KNY: Gauze, What Happened To You? Gore: Xenon, LMIRL
Given what he did with Thrice on TBEITBN, I'd love to hear what Eric Palmquist could do with Deftones.
Date is the 6th member of Deftones. It's like asking Steve Vai to play without his Jem. They just pull the best out of each other.
I know it would be a longshot, but given his masterful drum production, Deftones and Casey Bates would be a dream.
What about Around The Fur is so appealing to people? It's not bad, but I don't think it's good either. I think it's just alright. I enjoy My Own Summer, Rickets, Be Quiet And Drive, and Headup, but that's about it. That album has some killer riffs, but those songs just are not interesting to me in any way. They became a much more enjoyable band to listen to with White Pony and everything thereafter.
