mein is seriously the only song I dislike in their disco! What are some of everyone's least favorites? If I had to choose another it would probably be elite. Though its good, I find it repetitive.
I don't wanna piss off any more of my fellow Deftones fan today so I will just say that Back to School is not exactly my fave.
I still like it! Its just a flat tire for me on WP. Haha ok gotta choose one more, cuz that's ones pretty much given.
S/T has the most clunkers of any Deftones album. "Lucky You," "Deathblow," "Battle-Axe," "Moana," all total snooze-fests. Don't hate "Minerva" but never understood the hype for it.
Lucky You is good but not great. Deathblow is awesome, and Battle Axe, Moana, and Minerva are next level. S/T is dooooope
Self-titled is their best and Minerva is like *the* definitive Deftones song to me. Not my favorite, but almost always the one I show people first when they ask me what this band sounds like.
I don't see how I was denying that. But nobody's made Deftones sound as good he did. And given some of the issues with production since he stopped working with them, forgive me if I want him producing them again.
I'm sure other producers can get Deftones sounding great. The scope of their sonic qualities don't have to be held to Terry Date. You don't need to live in the past. There are plenty of producers out there who have put out great sounding work with heavy bands: Dave Fridmann with Baroness, Jack Shirley with Deafheaven, Kurt Ballou with Converge and Russian Circles, Matt Bayles with ISIS and Caspian, even Eric Palmquist with Thrice. I see with Deftones fans all the time that they just want them to go back and work with Terry Date again. They haven't worked with him in, what, 10-15 years now? There are plenty of other intriguing options out there for Deftones as opposed to playing it safe with Date, which seems more and more like a pipe dream.
