It has the same energy and urgency to me. There's something else both records have in common, that the rest of their discography hasn't, but I can't figure out what it is.
That feeling when you find out that you were randomly unsubbed from one of you favorite threads several months ago.... Anyhoo, I love "Headup" and the manic, layered overdubs on a bunch of the ATF songs ("Lotion," "Lhabia," "Rickets.") Reminds me of early Glassjaw in how it sounds like someone literally being driven insane with anger. I'm excited for the summer tour! Like several folks have mentioned I haven't really kept up with RA since The Sufferer, but they're a good band and I've never gotten to see them live, so I'm pumped! Surprised they're skipping over the L.A. area entirely, but whatevs, I've got my tickets for Chula Vista and fully intend on having a blast! (Also, if I was still living in the Seattle area, this would be the first time since I seriously started going to shows that I would've been able to see them.)
Headup is such a vicious track. I don't think I'm more excited to hear them play a song than that one on the upcoming tour
Headup is one of the ones I have gotten into from ATF. Pretty much love the energy throughout the whole thing
Legit my favorite hoodie. $60 and worth every penny. Only downside to it is that after purchase my broke ass could no longer afford the "Guns Razors Knives" shirt.
Sorry for the late response, I wasn't notified lol. It definitely sounded better there than it does now without Chi but it sounds lacking due to the overdubbing in the studio song and Chino just can't keep up IMO.
Honestly, the new Incubus album is shaping up to be my most anticipated album of the year so far. The new song was way better than I expected (I even think it's one of the best songs they have written in more than a decade), and I feel like they finally regained their creativity and their energy back. I miss them.
A bit too early to tell, and I'm not sure it's for Incubus, but I'm having major Science/Make Yourself/Morning View vibes due to the electronic background. It'd be cool if they infused all the influences, old and new ones, into the new album.
Haven't listened to Incubus since Light Grenades era. Might check out the song with Chino. Morning View was one of my favorite albums in HS.
After 19 years of listening to this band I think that for me the best song they've written is Lovers. It has everything. Abe's insane drumming, a punishing, undulating riff from Steph, killer low end from Chi, and Chino's voice in top form. I still get chills hearing "Through... Space..." cascading in the background of the chorus. It represents everything I love about them.
Yep, top three Deftones song for me too. Insane track. Would have been the best song on the S/T had it made it on (Chino says it was recorded too late unfortunately).
