I always loved this album. Sounds great on loud speakers. U,U,D,D... has always been a staple on any ambient playlists I make. The SnapBack on those drum echos are so perfect. Fun fact, chino plays the drums on that song.
You know I double checked and wiki says it's Stephen. I coulda swore it was chino when I read it a few years back. Especially since chino started off playing drums.
I actually didn't know Chino started out as a drummer, so now I have learned something new from this haha
Now that we're approaching the end of the year, what does everybody think of Gore? Has it held up well for you? Has it grown on you? Has it fallen out of favor for you? For me, it has held up well. I still love the direction they took with it. I'm glad they leaned more towards an atmospheric direction (similar to SNW, though I'm sure thatbwasnt intentional) this time around. Hearts/Wires and Phantom Bride are among my favorite Deftones songs at this point, while Gore and Rubicon are other standouts on the album. My only complaint For the album is still the mix, particularly for the drums. The guitars sound great, but the drums, specifically the snare, do not cut through as well as the could. Great album overall to me still and it has cemented itself as a top three Deftones album for me.
I haven't listened to Gore in months tbh. I'll probably return to it soon though. It's nowhere near their best but certainly not their worst either. It's somewhere in the middle for me.
It'll be top ten, maybe top five in my end of the year list. Production/mixing issues aside, I still love it and Rubicon is still an absolute belter.
Gore is maybe my 6th favorite Deftones album... SNW > WP > s/t > KNY > DE > all the rest I like all of them tho
I like it more than KNY, but DE is still my fav post-Chi album. Having said that it really is an interesting album for them. Love the choices they made. The last three songs are perfect. Though yeah the mix is not good, and holds it back.
Still love it a whole lot. Prayers, Acid, Hearts, Gore, Phantom, Rubicon...Stellar additions to the catalog.
I haven't listened to it in a while, but I did claim Gore was their best back around the time of its release. I've cooled a bit on it. I love the direction they took, but I do wish the production was a bit better. I'll say it's still up there as one of their best.
Not really. I just don't know why someone's age matters when discussing what someone's favorite Deftones album is. I mean, I got into them in 2011 with White Pony and that was my favorite from them for five years. Now it's Diamond Eyes, followed by Gore. So if I mentioned that before I discussed my history with the band would you still ask about my age? That's why I don't understand why it matters. People like what they like.
