Great show! Really wish they would've thrown in at least one song from the S/t album, but I can't begin to complain about a set that included Rosemary, Knife Prty, and Passenger.

Since I'm bringing this up, did anybody ever try that Deftones wine they put out a few years ago? Are there any bottles of it still around somewhere? (And where can I purchase Maynard's Merkin Wine?)

Some musicians have trouble separating their work from the time they had making it and I think Chino's one of those. He always says that Around The Fur's his favourite Deftones album because of how much he enjoyed that time period, even though I think White Pony's the one he's most artistically satisfied with. On the other side of things, he's always been more down on the S/T and especially SNW because it was a hard time for the band and for him as a person.

I thought that was a Saturday Night Wrist anniversary tour announcement for a second and my heart literally skipped a beat.

Straight up my favorite Deftones album, and probably of all time. It's a shame it's the black sheep of their discography.

Same... sounds like the last thing they ever want to do is revisit that album, which is a shame but I can understand why.

it's interesting to me that he says that, because to me, it is obviously the most Chino of all the Deftones albums

And I think I remember reading (10 years ago) that Deftones was on the brink of breaking up because Chino was too involved with Team Sleep and wanted to tour most of the year with them.

I like SNW, but it's easily my second least favorite album of theirs. A few great songs, but I find it inconsistent overall.

I think minus a couple tracks, it's actually very consistent.

I guess it just goes back and forth in quality too many times for me to enjoy it as an album. Here's how it shakes out for me:
Hole in the Earth - great
    Rapture - okay
    Beware - great
    Cherry Waves - great
    Mein - okay
U,U,D,D... - cool, but nothing I return to
    Xerces - great
    Rats! - great
Pink Cellphone - not a fan
    Combat - okay
    Kimdracula - great
    Rivière - great

It just never establishes a full run of great songs like most of their other albums do, in my opinion. But I do still enjoy the album, not trying to trash it by any means.

I love that it is really atmospheric and brutal - in many songs at the same time

Actually, "Rapture" is the only song that doesn't do anything for me. I love everything else.

Rapture freaking slams. One of the best "heavy" tracks in their discog

I say this all the time, but SNW is criminally underrated in their discog. The mood of the album is fantastic. I gravitate towards it a lot this time of year. I remebe when I first heard it the week it came out along TBP by MCR, and both albums dominated my week. From what I gather reading interviews yeah Chino, and the band were in a very very dark place. That's why after it, and Chi's accident DE sounds so hopeful/energetic.

Rapture is solid. Rats Rats Rats, Riviere, and Beware are also solid.

By the way, the brilliant Vesanic has made a special live compilation for the anniversary.
