Watch Deftones’ Chino Moreno Perform Inside a Volcano | Pitchfork this is just silly :P cool, but so silly also, mandatory Chino in a volcano > Metallica any fucking where
Mainstream outlets single put Vektor, Deftones, Kvelertak, Cobalt as best of year so far [Updated]Metal Insider
I think I'm gonna be seeing these guys live for my first time next month and I'm obviously looking forward to it, but it bums me out that their setlists hardly change and that they're barely playing anything from the new album.
Honestly when I saw them I was kinda mad they didn't play a whole lot from DE(it was right after it came out), but the rest of the set made up for it. They killed.
Chino interview plus two songs from Download Festival Unfortunately the mix sounds rather bassy but still cool.
Being from Sac it's annoying how the local rock station rarely plays them. Only occasionally Change. Just turned to them, and they were playing Phantom Bride. I got so jazzed. Didn't even know that was a single.
I don't dislike the album by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel like the best thing about it are the song titles. They're so delightfully weird without trying too hard.
It's the worst mix of any Deftones album. General production isn't that great either. I don't find it off-putting because the music's so good but that's not an excuse. Although if you're listening to it on Spotify, that might be part of the reason; I think they might genuinely be using the vinyl leak for Acid Hologram on there, such is the difference in quality between the CD version and the Spotify one.
I gave this album a nice long rest after listening to it non-stop in April and May. Just went back to it the other day and I still really like it. Like everyone has said, the main flaw is the production/mixing. The songs themselves are fantastic.
I think this is their best since white pony still. the last three records all have production/mixing issues :\
I still think the DE and KNY sound pretty good. Not as good as the Terry Date produced albums, of course. If they made another album that was close in quality to White Pony or S/T, we'd be in for a treat.
I've never liked the production job on KNY. Too safely done, too clean, not enough character to it. You can't have a drummer like Abe Cunningham and not make proper use of him with the production and that's what happened with that record.
Just stumbled upon these old videos from when I saw Deftones in a club in Knoxville in 2010. Still the best Deftones show I've seen to this date, if not one of the better shows I've ever been to.
Seeing this band for my first time ever on Saturday and I am very excited. Spotlights' album was really good when I gave it my first listen so I'm looking forward to them as well. Anybody know if they had any time off between their last tour circuit and this one with Refused? I'm expecting pretty much the same setlist I saw online from earlier this year but I wasn't sure and I'm actually trying not to spoil the setlist (or at least the order) for myself this time around haha.
