Too many of you are leaving Minerva off your top 3 of self titled. Gore definitely needs a couple listens to sink in, but once it does it's great. Not sure if I like it more than KNY, but I have no problem saying that DE, KNY, and Gore are top 4 deftones albums, along with White Pony. After listening to Gore a couple times, I've gone back and listened to DE and KNY. I wrote DE off too quick, but I'm liking it a lot these days. KNY hit me immediately and it still does. I love Entombed, probably my favorite song of theirs.
I'm ready for the Prayers/Triangles video to be released. I went through a lot of their videos the other day, and Minerva and You've Seen the Butcher are probably my favorites.
I still dig the video for Be Quiet and Drive so much. I remember having to stay up hella late to catch it on MTV, but it was always worth it to see these dudes on TV. Something about seeing Chino go crazy messing with that hose was awesome too haha.
Can't believe I forgot Change. That might actually be my favorite. I feel like the visuals fit the music perfectly.
I do like the new album but so far none of the songs are really standing out, it's almost like one big song. I can't look at any of the song titles and remember how they go (apart from "Prayers/Triangles" and "Xenon"). Hopefully with more listens this will change.
Front page interview is quite good, but not a single question about Abe's parts or his drumming in general? Another case of his insane talent being overlooked.
I was on a car ride with a friend the other day and we were listening to Gore. He had never listened to Deftones before and after we got through a few songs he described their sound like he was "on fire, underwater." I thought it was a very fitting description.
Drew I demand an entire paragraph devoted to how stellar "Acid Hologram" and "Phantom Bride" are or we riot
I haven't clicked on the link yet. But doesn't he say he ranks the albums and talks about them? Is that not a write-up? What am I missing
My super meathead radio rock Five Finget Death Punch/Nickelback loving coworkers really dig this album so I'm proud I could introduce them to it like so many of you helped introduce them to me
I try not to judge them but I'll often ask them WHY they like a particular song or album and usually all I get is "idk, I just like it". Oh well.
Tbh most of the first half of the album hasn't really clicked with me yet, though I'm definitely enjoying it more with each listen.
This album is sooooo good. Glad that the interviewer pointed out how much of a knockout the last three tracks are in sequence. I have a feeling this is definitely making it on my top 10 list this year.
Yeah it will be hard to knock this out of my top ten at the end of the year. Even with all of the good music coming out this year.
