Heard a very unconfirmed rumor that the new album isn’t coming until around November at the earliest because the band’s doing so well at selling tickets already with these tours. It’s a strategic move to wait until after the main tours to release new material and keep the momentum going into next year.

They don’t have anything publicly on the books past 10/3.

Would be sick if they used Dia De Los Deftones to debut new stuff

There's no way they ever release it with the Sergio drama so....would be really neat to hear that snippet...

yeah that was great, chino had much more energy onstage than i expected, was really impressed w his stage presence

minerva was as spiritual of an experience as i coulda hoped for, pure magic in that song

That might be my favorite live song of theirs. The wall of sound translates so well in that setting.

Minerva is, no doubt, a top 10 Deftones song for me. I love when they just sit on a particular melody/riff or two and feature it heavily throughout a song. Battle Axe and Rosemary are two of my absolute favorites for that reason. Tempest is high up there for me too

I didn’t start listening to Deftones until 2010/2011 and I didn’t check out the S/T until, like, 2014, but that album has only gained more and more steam for me over the years that it’s become my third favorite album from them at this point. Absolutely love the riffs and overall vibe of that album.

  13. one of their best for sure.

Hexagram, Needles and Pins, Minerva, Battle Axe, and Bloody Cape are all among their best. It’s a shame that Lovers didn’t make the album because I think it’s up there with the aforementioned songs too

always felt like their gloomiest, possibly even gothiest record to me (helped along by the cover art) which definitely helps

self titled is terribly sequenced but yeah all of it except gmb is amazing. top 2 tones for sure

  18. the artwork is worse than the sequencing imo

funny I am v picky about sequencing but it never occurred to me to tinker with the s/t, not even to add "lovers" which is a cool song but wouldn't add much to the record

what's wrong with its sequencing? I think it flows pretty well

I’ve never minded the sequencing either, but it did occur to me the other day that it’s perhaps an odd choice to have Lucky You and Anniversary so close to one another in the sequencing. Thankfully, Bloody Cape just brings so much heat and energy that I never really noticed it.

As for Lovers, I think it’d make for a stronger closer than Moana, which has always been one of my least favorite songs on the album even though I did finally come around to liking it in recent years.

Man, I love Moana. Chino showcases his ethereal vocal qualities so well on that one.

Maybe my distaste for it over so many years is because Chino and Abe did video interview where they discussed their discography through the years and, when talking about their disdain for the self-titled, I’m pretty sure they mentioned how Moana never had a proper finish in their eyes, that it just ends, and that’s how they felt about their creative energy during that time

I think it works, but I do think their opinions on their own music have affected my thoughts on their music as well. I’ll have to see if I can find the interview and if I even recalled it accurately lol

S/T rips. Needles And Pins is a top 5 Deftones song.

The only time I saw them (which was almost ten years ago what the fuck) they played it and I went bananas

Steph actually plays a 5 string bass on that one which is wild
