I'd argue they've done that quite a lot. Rocket States, Poltergeist, Rosemary, Doomed User... I think they played a snippet of Hearts / Wires before Gore came out as well. I don't remember if the albums were already announced by the time they debuted each song though.
I can see bands looking at these opportunities of being a major support, but not headlining as a chance to experiment a bit. It's also only a few days into the tour, so I imagine it improving marginally as it goes on.
For an arena tour I think it’s great. They played Lovers last year(?) during a couple of dates and I don’t think the crowd was really into it. I imagine new songs would get a similar reception.
I was really hoping their inclusion of Lovers in their live set was a sign that it was going to be officially released soon. Sadly, doesn't seem like it's going to happen.
It technically was. It was a B-side to hexagram in some printings. But I know what you mean. A fully mixed and mastered version would be so nice.
This might be a hot take but when I go to the MSG show in April I would be totally fine if they completely ignored Adrenaline. As I would joke with my friends in high school, when I listen to that album I tend to “get bored”.
It's not a hot take. I would've traded for Bored for "Cherry Waves" or almost any track from Ohms LOL. Not a big fan of that album.
I was actually kind of surprised to see the lack of Ohms rep on this tour’s setlist. Do fans really hate it that much? Feels like so many people slam that album. I thought it was great
I would’ve LOVED to have heard Error, Spell, Headless, etc. Also, very unpopular opinion, but I would be absolutely fine if they decided to close sets with something other than “7 Words” moving forward. It was entertaining the first four times I saw them. Now though? Freshen it up, please.
I'd love if they closed with Ohms. There's something about that song that just sounds triumphant to me. I think it would be a great vibe to end the show on.
People have been talking about purple snake imagery used around touring promotional material. That's about it. Fans have asked the band about new music during VIP meet and greets and they just say different variations of "soon".
Still planning on scalping/ buying last-minute tickets for MSG on Thursday and I've got no one to go with yet... I wish more of my friends listened to them!
