I saw Sunny Day Real Estate play Diary last night and even though I love that album, I was shocked when I realized how little lyrics of the entire album I actually know lmao
As somebody who still wears a mask to shows I can confidently say I do that at 75% of the shows I go to.
This looks as good as sold out 2 hours after general sale. They should really do a short UK arena tour.
That's pretty amazing. I believe the park is about 25k cap. Twice as big as any headline show they've played here. I picked one up in the presale.
I still have hope we get single & album announcement before EOY and album drops in Jan or early Feb. Ohms was announced just 5 weeks before the record came out.
I was checking out Deftone album rankings for the first time ever and noticed that album placed in the mid to low rankings and it sparked me to revisit it because I recall liking it quite a bit haha.
The consensus seems to be that people like Diamond Eyes better, but I just really like the atmosphere on KNY, and it also feels a little more expansive than Diamond Eyes. Definitely my favorite post-Chi record, and White Pony is the only one that could challenge it some days.
It's probably the "best" of the post-Chi albums, but I like DE a bit more. I think I will always have some version of ATF, WP, and S/T at the top. Those records are just so important to me.
I think I prefer Diamond eyes overall, the highlights for me being Sextape and Beauty school, but Koi does have the gorgeous Entombed and Rosemary, I think I like when Deftones really pushes that shoegaze and gives us those sweet atmospheres.
my ranking - 1. white pony - duh 2, koi no yokan - immaculate production, vibe and exploratory song structures 3. s/t - underrated. beautiful expensive guitars and two of their very best (and nearly last) non-guitar songs. I miss their experimental streak real bad. 4. around the fur (black stallion!!) 5. diamond eyes - really good and sounds great but sounds more like a grab bag of songs and less like a sequenced album thing to me 6. saturday night wrist - high highs, low lows 7. gore 8. adrenaline 9. ohms :(
I just remember this dude on AP loved to tell anyone who would listen that KNY isn’t well produced or mixed
honestly haven't had much desire to listen to this band since the shit with sergio came out and after everything with stef but going off memory: 1. White Pony 2. Deftones 3. Diamond Eyes 4. Saturday Night Wrist 5. Around the Fur 6. Ohms 7. Koi No Yokan 8. Gore 9. Adrenaline
I wondered if maybe I was underrating ohms....on revisit, I think it's Chino's vocal melodies and lyrics I find most lacking this time around. Felt like he saved all his hooks for Crosses ha
