Minerva fucking blows ass. That song goes nowhere. Most overrated song in the Deftones canon, and they've got a few.
The most boring Deftones songs for me all live in the middle part of Gore. You can tell Steph wasn’t into it and nothing really feels that inspired. So, Geometric Headress —> Gore. I hardly ever return to those songs.
Yeah, Gore and Ohms just haven't had much staying power with me. I like "Xenon" is okay. I think "(L)MIRL" is a bit underrated, but then it's it not really a track I'm listening to unless I'm revisiting that album.
Yeah Ohms, aside from a few tracks, didn’t resonate with me as much. I think it’s more interesting than Gore though.
That chorus on Urantia is excellent. I also love the main chugging riff and Abe’s refusal to match it lockstep with the kick.
"Urantia" has gotta have one of my favorite Deftones song endings. I like "This Link is Dead" cuz it's basically "When Girls Telephone Boys Pt 2." Fortunately, someone else on the internet realized the same thing...
Incorrect - best album! If anyone was gonna complain about a boring track on SNW, I figured it would be U,U,D,D.
Nah that track's one of the best on that record. It's them turning up and doing post-rock better than most post-rock bands.
Lucky You is a Top 10 Deftones tracks, really felt like the beginning of Chino going down the Crosses path.
I get it: the self-titled is a moody meandering textural piece which, like the Alice In Chains self-titled, probably feels lethargic if it doesn't click with you. It always clicked with me though so that's just a list of songs I love. Watching them play Battle-Axe about six years ago was one of the highlights of all my gig-going.
