Just found out the Portland show is sold out and resale is crazy. Damn. I had ample opportunity to purchase, but after snagging Fall Out Boy and Alkaline Trio tix, I figured I should cool it for a bit.
Crosses are on tour until March 11 then again throughout June in Europe. He could record vocals April-May, album gets mixed & mastered June-Aug, and then comes out Oct-Nov. It's def doable.
I think so. He's been on a tear lately and I think his work ethic is solid now. This isn't SNW drugged out Chino, thankfully.
I don’t know a thing about his work ethic because I’m just a chorus dot fm poster living in the Philly suburbs But I hope we get a new Deftones album this year
I have never been a major label rock record producer but I think when the vocalist sends in the vocals it might take some time to incorporate it all into a finished product, including possibly making changes to the music as a result of the vocal input. I very strongly doubt it is as simple as "ok the vocals are here, record's done, send it out to mixing!"
He's always preferred to structure the bulk of his melodies and lyrics after the music's all in place and recorded. Maynard James Keenan works the same way. Elizabeth Fraser used to with Cocteau Twins. It forces the music to stand on its own and then the vocals elevate it that bit further. That's supposedly how they've always worked, except on Around The Fur and Diamond Eyes which were both written and recorded over two to three months. The recording won't take too long -- Shaun said that in the last recording sessions for the new Crosses album Chino was recording a song a day with harmonies etc -- but he'll take longer to finalise his melodies and lyrics. I'd take an educated guess that he has some rough melodic ideas for the songs (like in the rehearsal snippet he played on that Song Exploder episode) and he'll spend the next two to three months structuring them, getting lyrics in place, and then recording. That would leave the summer open for mixing and mastering, and Stef has said before that they don't tend to change music after Chino finishes so, unless they try something different this time, that would open up an October/November date. The variable is that Crosses are touring Europe in June so that removes a few weeks of his schedule. If he's not done before that then we're probably looking at Q1 of 2025.
Yeah hypothetically if someone had a .rar or perhaps even a .zip of said demos, that would be cool to hear I think
Been on a huge Deftones kick lately so I’m ranking the albums, ranking the songs (on each album), putting together my top 25 (which has changed a bit since I last did one) and I’m having a good time folks
I will also be including b-sides and other songs written/recorded and/or released during the each respective era
Their covers album is so sold. I enjoy some of theirs more than the originals. Love this band. Own every album on vinyl.
