the best part about back to school is chino just fucking around on it because he knows it's a terrible idea
Here's a terrible opinion 12 year old me had: Pink Maggit is bad because it's a slower more boring version of Back to School.
Part of me thinks they shouldn't have written it and part of me enjoys the story of Chino going "I'll show you how easy it is to write a nu-metal hit song."
Feiticeira is the rightful opener of WP and Back to School exists bc Maverick Records saw Hybrid Theory come out and were like "shit we need another one of those"
I've running through the entire disco today and man Diamond Eyes is so dope. Prince is definitely the close cousin of Rx Queen - the tones are so fucking similar
Deftones discography is so damn perfect that I can listen to any record and be like “oh yeah that’s a top 3 album” and then I have 8 albums in my top 3
I remember I started playing drums around when Diamond Eyes came out and I twisted myself into fuckin knots trying to figure out what Abe was doing on Prince. In reality it's not that complicated, he just takes what would be a pretty standard rock beat and hits the hi hat on the upbeat instead of the downbeat, but it's always the little things like that that have made him more interesting than other rock drummers
That’s how it is on Spotify and on the original CD I bought, I believe it was a special edition when it came out.
Just finished Koi No Yokan and listening to Gore now, I think Gore might actually pull ahead for me. Sonically, it's a lot more unique and I could cut a couple of tracks from Koi No Yokan. Both great records though.
This but for mewithoutYou and Every Time I Die as well. There are others but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.
"Doomed User" is like Mastadon covering "CMND/CNTRL" lol this album fucks so hard. Love the thrash/80s metal influence on this thing.
I had the original version with the silver artwork. I didn't know until many years later they re-released the album with Back To School as the opener. I'm also surprised that song was never on a teen movie soundtrack.
