Every time a new video comes out from the 2003 era it reaffirms it as my favorite Deftones time period. This setlist is perfect and the performances are incredible.
New podcast interview with Chino came out yesterday, recorded towards the end of last year. Just over two hours long. I think this is the best interview I've ever heard from him. Certainly the most honest, both about music and personal life. A couple of especially good stories about meeting Madonna when they were signing to her record label Episode 72- Chino Moreno (Deftones) - One Life One Chance
lmao I read that at first as "record towards the end of the year, just over two hours long" and my mind froze imagining a 2 hours Deftones album
Lol man we've been waiting four years, I'm not gonna listen to a YouTube vid of a minute snippet of someone's phone
I wouldn't be so sure. Pretty certain it was recorded from Chino's mixlr about a month and a half ago (hence terrible quality). Clearly some idiot has just decided to share it.
If they're still planning on a September release as has been stated, I'd think an announcement would be likely sooner than later.
Yeah we're roughly 6-8 weeks from release if they're planning September, gotta think there'll be a single in the next few weeks if thats the case.
I've been finally digging into the Deftones discography after knowing about them since the My Own Summer video was all over MTV and I need some guidance. I've listened to Around The Fur, White Pony, Koi No Yokan (just based off of what songs drew me most on a Spotify playlist). I think Around sounds dated, but I get it - it was 1997 and nu-metal was kicking off. White Pony was them experimenting way more. Koi is very much my shit as they started to move into a more melodic shoegaze sound. Where should I go from here? EDIT: Also Diamond Eyes, which was my first full 'Tones album.
I don’t think it’s coming out in September. I mean I’m sure that was the plan at some point but the band (Chino especially) is kinda notorious for saying “oh it’s coming out this month” and then it doesn’t
Honestly, you can't go wrong, they've been incredibly consistent. That said, Diamond Eyes is probably where I'd go next and then work backwards.
