It was there last night right after he finished, because I watched it at like 2 in the morning as I was passing out, but I guess it didn't stay.

 

I mean, I have to go with WP but I love Toxicity. I just put it on the other day and it holds up.

 

It's hardly anything at all, but if you want to hear a few seconds of a new song...

I know a few people were talking about it weeks ago - but it seems that the Deftones documentary 'Entertain Me' is now up on Youtube

 

A couple of things on that documentary just to clarify.

If anyone didn't know, this documentary was made during their time on tour in Oct-Dec of 2000, a few months after White Pony came out. It's never been officially released. The label at the time blocked it for being "too depressing". A few years ago, the guy who made the film tried releasing it but got quickly threatened with being sued, so took it down again.

I downloaded it about six or seven years ago. This same version, I think. It's not the absolute, final cut that was made but it's still a full form.

Also whoever uploaded it to Youtube had to mute the music from this clip of Stef and Chino lip-syncing to Prince on their tour bus.

 

The clips gives me Rats! Rats! Rats! vibes + Around The Fur + Koi No Yokan. Yeah, that's how much I interpreted from a few milliseconds. We're starving.

 

Has anyone heard of the band Higher Power? Stumbled across them and getting huuuuge Deftones vibes. Especially their album 27 Miles Underwater


“Drag the Line” especially.

 

Mannnnnn Lotion is seriously such a relentless track that never gets enough credit, and then for it to roll right into Dai. I seriously adore AtF. Whole album just doesn’t let up. I believe I read that Lotion was about biters around the time of them gaining popularity? Anyone else hear this? Not sure if Chino was alluding to any band in particular for copying their style.

Then there’s Dai which is hard for me to listen to now after chi’s passing, but Chino/Chi both go in on that track.

My Deftones stanning friend is convinced they've rerecorded or finished Smile for the new album because they played it live last year. Not that this is that likely, but it would be interesting considering they're back with Terry Date

 

I adore Lotion - always seems to get forgotten about like you say

I was absolutely obsessed with Deftones when ATF released - Just started University in Sheffield and living away from home for the first time - Had all of my hair chopped off to try and look at least a tiny bit like Chino (Yellow sunglasses and all)

I remember getting the DJ in the Wapentake club (a now sadly defunct nightclub that mainly played Def Leppard) to play Lotion and losing my shit as it came on - He didn't know what the hell was going on!

Just realised tomorrow's the tenth anniversary of Diamond Eyes.

 

Damn

 

My proper introduction to the band after being blown the fuck away by Rocket Skates and the title track earlier in the year. On any given day this could be right up there with their best stuff. Happy 10th birthday Diamond Eyes, easily one of the best intros to a band I've had in the past decade.

 

I still remember the thread blowing up once the album leaked... +1 month before the release date right? It felt so weird.

Diamond Eyes, Blue Sky Noise, OMNI, and Clean Head EP were all on my rotation at the time. Feeling nostalgic.
