It's been one of my least favorite songs by them for as long as I've been a fan but I was listening to it in the car earlier and am coming around to the idea that Mein actually bangs. Abe fucking rips on that song (and every song, but I digress). Would be better without Serj tho
The Roach Koach Podcast on Apple Podcasts This podcast is very entertaining. They did the S/T this week.
I'm listening now and realizing that. Super cool because it is still def my fav record by them and probably always will be, but I never feel like that's appreciated by a lot of the fanbase and especially not the casual listener. It's not perfect by any means (I would argue no Deftones record truly is), but the mood and atmosphere of it are unparalleled for me, both in their discography or otherwise. It's probably my favorite "heavy" record of all time.
Dang I got Battle-Axe on repeat right now. Haven't heard that track in awhile and it's flooring me. I need to listen to S/T again
everyone needs to listen to S/T as much as possible y’all ever just get lifted at the end of Bloody Cape
Moana has my favorite recorded Chino performance. Lovers is a close second. The whole album is just incredible.
much as I love the album, I still don’t get Moana really. too meandering imo and feels like it ends the album rather anti-climatically. absolutely fucking love Lovers tho and wish it had made the record. that brings me to my next point which is that I realized recently that Deftones is, to me anyway, way better at opening albums than closing them.
Oh wow, I completely disagree! I think their closers are all amazing, and for me they just edge out the openers. How funny.
Yeah we’re in very different boats here haha. All of their openers are some of my favorite songs by them (maybe not Bored, but I still love that song), only a few of their closers would make the cut (MX, Rivière, and What Happened To You basically).
The only Deftones closers I love are Pink Maggit, Riviere, What Happened To You, and Rubicon. The other closers are either good or solid/fine.
All this talk, like Rubicon isn't one of their best closers as well as a top 20 Deftones song at least
