God this song is awesome. Echoing what others are saying with the cool atmospheric effects of Koi and the crushing riffage of self titled. It seems like the general creative vibe of this record (at least from the interview) was more positive than previous ones so that's also a great sign for the entire record. DEFTONES SUMMER BABY
I also really appreciate their merchandise approach. Limited, big booklet vinyl, other variants with different covers, photobook CD, regular CD, cassette tape, and tons of apparel. Something for everybody.
my expectation was that they'd swap out the background for each variant, because any color would work well with the white snake in the foreground, but i do like that they've stuck with green, purple, and blue for the cassette
Urban Outfitters has the pink variant. https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/sho...lor=066&size=ONE+SIZE&type=REGULAR&quantity=1
I remember hearing Change on a lot of gym transformation videos. I think Sextape, Change, and Cherry Waves got big with the younger generation.
I just referred to a "younger generation". I'm gonna go barf. I was 17 when S/T released and I saw them live for the first time. Crazy.
track lengths (per Qobuz): 1. my mind is a mountain (2:50) 2. locked club (2:52) 3. ecdysis (3:28) 4. infinite source (3:32) 5. souvenir (6:10) 6. cXz (3:12) 7. i think about you all the time (4:08) 8. milk of the madonna (4:08) 9. cut hands (3:01) 10. ~metal dream (3:02) 11. departing the body (5:59) total: (42:22)
Song is great. Not a second of wasted space. Urgent, vital. No long synth crescendo to begin as a signpost of emotional heft; just batter down the doors from the off; everyone swarming all over it. Reminiscent of Swerve City, Urantia, and Genesis, amongst others, with all the get in/get out restraint of Street Carp, whilst not feeling like any of those songs.
Interesting. So this is shaping up to be more Diamond Eyes than KNY from a song length approach. DE still felt like quite a journey thankfully, so we’ll see how PM unfolds.
