Chino suddenly placing the 'Constant zeros' refrain atop those claustrophobic verse instrumentals towards the end of cXz is a lovely, supple piece of songwriting.
I think this is the album I liked the most this year that I spent the least amount of time with. Fixing that now.
Yeah I absolutely adore this record, it's my #2 of the year, but I def didn't listen to it as much as I normally would've had Hayley Williams not released my #1
Same, I have to remind myself to spend more time with it. When it hits, it really hits. I did have a stronger reaction to Ohms overall. Something about that record's vibe mixed with the return of Terry Date at the helm appealed to me more.
ohms probably has their best production in the whole discog tbh, absolutely incredible sounding album and that is its biggest strength this and ohms are very apples and oranges to me. ohms feels like a calibration of their chemistry as a band and tremendously highlights their cohesion and tightness with each other, while this broadens the sonic palate and landscape and thrusts that into their most diverse set of songs since 2006. i like this more too, but i think they both make each other shine a little brighter
aside from Gore, this is the only other new Deftones album since I have been a fan that I haven’t completely obsessed over and haven’t really desired to come back to outside of the release window :\
Spotify put PM in my top five albums I listened to this year, but the only song from it that made my most-listened songs of 2025 was Infinite Source. It’s weird. It certainly felt like I listened to everything on it a lot, but I guess not?
Spotify is too busy running ICE recruitment ads to fully pay attention to folks' listening habits right now
I've been listening to it a bunch the last few days and thought much the same thing ^ I've also circled back round to thinking that My Mind Is A Mountain is the best song on the record.
Only releases this year I can for sure put above this are Erika De Casier, Cloakroom and PinkPantheress
