Infinite Source may be my favorite right now too. That harmonic riff is so sick, I know that one review posted back in the thread mentioned something about Paramore but it feels very Finch coded to me
I'm a few pages late but my scorching hot take about KNY is that the odd numbered songs on that album are all career highlights, but the even numbered ones stink
i have also always felt that way about kny with the slight exception being that i like goon squad (and am kinda eh on swerve city)
the song that keeps coming to mind for me is until youre reformed by chevelle which is an amazing track too
I do not like Romantic Dreams at all, one of my least favourite Deftones songs even Poltergeist is the best of that bunch probably, great chorus but the Garageband-aas handclaps just get my back up within the first few seconds. baffling choice when you have one of the best drummers in the world imo
Honestly I won’t argue on the even ones being worse, except Poltergeist because it’s insane and I love it. That last “WILLLLLLDDDDD” before the last chorus gets me every time. Man KNY is so insane. Swerve City, Leathers, Poltergeist, Entombed, and Rosemary are probably all in my top 20 favorite songs of theirs.
It cuts off at times, but it's the best rip I could find at the moment. Milk of the Madonna is missing
My holy trinity on Koi No Yokan is Gauze - What Happened To You - Tempest. I feel like you could show these three to someone to showcase the band's range. Graphic Nature (never been a fan) and Goon Squad are my least favorites, though I love the intro into the main riff on the second. Melts my face off everytime.
outside of a few tracks here and there, KNY has never really been for me. hate how compressed everything sounds
ive never been crazy for either album but i will say i jammed them both yesterday and enjoyed them more than i tend to give them credit, particularly diamond eyes which doesnt have an emtombed/leathers/what happened ceiling for me but mostly maintains its vision consistently throughout
Not a huge DT fan, but this album does have a lot to latch onto, most since KNY imo. Deserves a lot of the praise it’s getting, even if the band isn’t for me - they’re in the zone here
Thrilled to connect with this immediately. First time since KNY that i immediately loved and vibed with one of their albums which is a good sign since I have KNY in the 1-3 favorite range depending on the time/season.
really happy for them and the reception this is getting. feels like they're really getting their flowers
