this is pretty sick i gotta say. ive never been crazy for diamond eyes and koi so i wasnt super keen on a return to nick but this is a big improvement on a lot of the aesthetics that define those albums and threads in a lot of what i liked about ohms too. excited to get to know it more
I thought Ohms was their best since Koi. Nope. This is their best since Koi. Probably their best since White Pony. Maybe even their best ever. I’m honestly just blown away by this. This is what I love to hear and see from a band like Deftones. They make me forget how long they’ve actually been around. They still give off ‘new, exciting, band’ vibes. It’s wild.
Deftones are never a band I got into over the years, but I decided to check this out and I’m digging it. I’m not sure this is what I expected it to sound like. what other albums of theirs should I check out?
Koi no Yokan, self-titled, White Pony, their first two if you're okay with them definitely being products of their time. Still think a remix/remaster job on Adrenaline and Around the Fur would work wonders. As good as a lot of their first two records are, not a fan of the 'sound'.
Y'all weren't joking around, this thing is incredible! Not surprised at all, but also a band who's 30 yrs into releasing music and they come out with something this great--amazing!! Side note: I didn't realize I had it on shuffle when I pressed play, after Mountain played it went to Departing and I thought Chino was Peter Steele for a sec
2nd listen complete. -As soon as the snare snaps, you know exactly who’s behind the kit. I absolutely love it and can’t get enough of it. -There are so many single-worthy songs on this thing. It’s insane. -I hope this is a number 1 album.
That was a fun 5am dog walk. Gonna get many more plays throughout the day once I'm done with meetings.
