Just checked this out, apparently a lot of the hints are in Infinite Source? Some people are taking it to mean they're breaking up which god I hope not.
i'm gonna assume it's probably a companion film (given the video tease from earlier). i'm doubtful it's an additional music release.
They're not breaking up and it's not Eros. I'm not even considering those. A second album would be really cool but that's not really the sort of thing they would do. Some kind of film/documentary is my guess, but that's mainly from dismissing other options. Edit: What @Michael Belt said
It would absolutely baffle me if the band decided to call it quits now even if Infinite Source reads like a final bow (and apparently hints at what's to come). Then again, they're in their fifties and aren't getting any younger. But still, I've also read some interpretations of that song have to do with Chino's sobriety. I don't know what's going on.
I'm just going to assume the privatemusic.tv thing is a pre-recorded Private Music live performance of the album. Would be perfect to present the new album in that fashion before going on their second leg of touring. Speculation aside, tonight's all about PM and my favorite band. I'm just happy we get new music at all and don't want to take any of this for granted.
I'll talk a deluxe edition with a bunch of B-sides and covers. Or just Finger of Death recorded properly.
That's what I think too but read a certain way I can see why people would get retirement from those lyrics. Even though I already listened to the album I still can't wait!
Bonafide arena band status 30 years in just to bask in it for one album cycle and then pack it in, obv /s
I’ve been at a work outing at a Cubs game all day and pounding beers. This livestream is going to HIT tonight.
It looks like it’s set up so there’s three channels you can switch between It’s interesting because CH 3 looks like it’s just songs from other artists? It lists In Like Flynn which is a Girls Against Boys songs. There’s also Quote Unquote which is a Mr. Bungle song too
Just finished my first listen. I think enhancing the experience through vintage windows media player vizualizations and half-asleep must've helped because a recurring thought was "is this their trippiest/shoegaziest album ever!?" So much to say, I'll give it second listen when I wake up.
Wow, I actually received a pre-order BEFORE release! Layout, packaging, booklet… it’s all perfect. If you have a copy coming, you’ll be thrilled with it.
Out of their discography, the albums I had in mind the most during my listen were Koi No Yokan and Gore. The dreamier feel of the first with the 80s influences that were heightened on the latter, except fully realized and better executed this time. I even thought of Adrenaline on some old school sounding parts. I'll have to check but I think those were on cut hands and metal dream. Lots of new things vocally too, Chino took me by surprise quite a few times. Frank brought his A game as well, there's so much psychedelic stuff going on in the background that stands out from his work on previous releases. Can't wait to dive into this a second time.
